Orfstock 2009 Hotel Thread

Got the confirmation today. I actually had to drive to the hotel over lunch to talk to someone. They didn't return my calls. Strike one - a little surprising as this is a nice place.

I have a group rate set up for the nights of 6/26 and 6/27.

Standard Room $109
Suite $119
Extra Adult $10 (just making sure you know their policy)

When you call, you must tell them you are with Stang Mafia to be eligible for the group rate. If you are a Hilton Rewards member, you might be able to get a better rate. I'm not positive about that, but it was the case at the HGI in Kitty Hawk - back when there was a gathering down there.

If you would be so kind, please reply in this thread after you reserve a room. That way I can get a fairly accurate count for the event. Please let me know who will be rooming with you, if anyone. Again - just to get an accurate count.

Like the former OBX gathering, I will have a registration form I would like everyone to fill out. It won't be ready for a while, which is why I'm asking for your replies here. The forms will make it easy for me to make up name tags, and some other stuff I have in mind.

Does this package include breakfast?

Reason I ask is that I found a deal at the hotel with my Hilton Honors for $125/nt but it includes breakfast for up to 4.

$95/nt w/o the breakfast package.

For $30, I can fry up a couple dozen eggs, throw in a huge pan of home fries, and even a loaf of bread - toasted - covered in butter and jelly.


And still have money left over.

Greg, How far is the closest airport. May want the wife to fly in. She doesn't want to ride with me for 5.5 hours. Says car is not comfy for such a long ride.

Spoke with my liaison at the Hotel. Breakfast is not included. However, they do offer a breakfast. $9.95 - buffet style with hot and cold items - eggs made to order. She said it is a very nice breakfast spread.

Maybe I'll take the family out there this weekend to try it out, and get back to you.

We've never needed batteries in our bedroom.

Not entirely true. We do use 9 volt batteries in the alarm clock - in case of a power outage.

20 minutes from the hotel to the Pittsburgh airport.

Wait.

I've seen the way you drive.

Make it 30 minutes.


The hotel may even have a shuttle. I'll look into it. I can also offer to pick people up in my Expedition. The ride is a little softer than in our cars.

Just a "heads up". When I first called about setting up a group rate for the weekend in June, They told me that there were 6 weddings planned at the hotel on the same weekend.

If you are planning to attend, it may be better to call earlier, rather than later. Having everyone in one location will make logistics easier.
