I was car #466.

Traction was an issue. As you can see from the trap speeds, I should have a much better 1/4 mile time. Driver experience is also a factor.

The runs are shown in order. On the last run I actually tried launching in 2nd gear...didn't help much.

Every time the other lane would get out in front of me, but I'd always catch up at the end.

For those of you wondering....

Evolution stage II TVS
Stock tires running 20 psi
1 piece 3.5" aluminum driveshaft
Steeda Tri-ax shifter
Only suspension mods are BMR lowers and adjustable upper with -3 degrees pinion angle
Car dynoed at 595 RWHP
Traction control was off

Air was cool, about 73 degrees
Track was good, no excuses
I need better/wider tires and some more practice

P.S. I got in trouble for having an "outdated" helmet, she shook her finger at me and said "we'll let you run tonigh, but get a 2005-cert helmet for next time".

The first and third runs were pretty consistant. That second run wasn't as good. With those tires, it is hard to leave the line without easing it out. Did you do burnouts before you staged?

No, not nervous at all. This was my 3rd time at a drag strip. The last time was in spring of 2008 at Shelbyfest.

however, the other times I went it was so busy I only got 2 runs in, and they were spread out like 2 hours between runs. This time it was "test and tune" night, so you could get back in line quickly and run again, which is helpful for keeping a "rhythm".

Yes, burnouts each time. I did my burnouts by quickly jabbing the gas, and immediately shifting into 2nd gear and doing the burnout in 2nd gear, 1st gear you just buzz straight to the red line.

Yes, I eventually want that too. But obviously I need traction first. It was hilarious...I'd come out of the box 5 car lengths behind a guy, then I'd pass him easily 2/3 the way down the track...then back in the pit area he'd come up and say "what the FU&& do you have in that thing?" That happened twice with two different people.

Not bad Davey obviously traction was a problem. With that 122 mph trap speed the car could easily run low 11's with a pair of DR's or slicks maybe even high 10's if everything was perfect.

Example: I ran 11.57 @ 119mph with a 1.7 60 ft with the T-Bird .

I'd be surprised if I could get to low 11's without some additional help in the power area, but I agree I have to get the traction resolved first. I do think my lack of driving skill off the line is costing me a few tenths also.

I'll go back again one more time this summer and hope to experiment a bit more off the line.
