I see thanks Fred...BTW will you be testing it on a car without the larger lower so we can see what it does on a stock lower and upper ? Maybe with a 2.6 upper ,headers, 93 pump gas etc ?

Based on imputed rate from Fred's dyno nums looks like it should pull around 710rw at 14.6 with the same mods, etc ...about 9.4rwHP/#boost.

I've looked over this a number of times and can't figure out the numbers. Would love to see the Dyno sheets but shouldn't there be more peak HP at the bigger boost #'s? I have virtually the same numbers with the KB and lower boost running the 3.25" upper as the 3" upper on here. I also notice pretty minor HP gains for bumping boost up 5lbs. I get about 100HP (20 HP per 1lb of boost approx) so I am wondering why the gains would be so minimal on this one.....that being said the whipple seems to have more torque than I have with the KB. It would be really interesting to run a legit 3rd party test on the 3 of these at different levels and set ups but same day and dyno. It may be tough to swap fast enough to keep conditions the same but it could be a more informative test than has been done to date. I still can't see any reason to change my KB based on what I see from others...how about coming out with a 3.0 TVS......Come on - I'll test it on my car.

One thing that caught my attention on the 2.9 is the long length of the rotors relative to their diameter. It appears (dunno) that they kept them small to fit under the brace (which may not clear anyway) and made them longer to get the 2.9L displacement. That seems to me like a suboptimal strategy for a twinscrew which typically benefits more from rotor diameter than length. So, the thought crossed my mind that the smaller rotor-face (relative to SC volume) might have been the reason for the protracted 2.9 plenum rework -- to try to better feed the narrow-faced rotors more effectively. Dunno, just speculating. I do very much like the new plenum design but there's only so much air that can be picked off by a relatively small diameter rotorset. Maybe Whipple felt they had no player in the under-brace segment so possibly that was an intentional design constraint? ...dunno, just thinking out loud based on what I'm seeing in some pics where the 2.9 rotors look to be almost 2" longer than the TVS rotor-set but no bigger in diameter. That works fine on a roots but not optimal on a twinscrew. If so, the 2.8KB should compare well relative to the 2.9. Like I said, just thinking out loud ...Freds nums do look pretty good.

I agree the numbers are solid but it seems like the narrow long concept may be correct as that could be why limited gain at highr boost right? I would still like to see charts as if it was anyone other than evo every one would be screaming for them to see A/F etc.

Fred, any 2.9 dyno charts you post for us?
