Yep - that's me. I put the stock wheels and tires back on for the track. I thought the 18" with more sidewall would be better. It's not. Too much sidewall and not enough tread. I will use the 20" Razors with the 275/305 combo next time.

The white/blue was Vernon from SCMC. He abandoned the GT500 as a collectible when the production numbers went up. His car is track only now. He tore out the interior, put in racing seats, made a lot of weight changes (batt, etc.), changed the suspension and moved the wheels out 2 inches all the way around. Handles like a Miata. That car was one of the fastest of all cars there. That includes many race-prepped vettes, Ford GTs, a Viper, Porches. He was having a blast.

Had the car up to 165 on the full course straight one time - in 5th (no guts to go to 6th). There's a nice breeze. : )

The car was very stable at that speed. The splitter and spoiler started to put the car down around 130. It felt much heavier in the wheel over 140.

I figure the aerodynamics are better and safer with the top down. Not slipstream and drag, but less lift. With the top up - the car has a low-pressure airfoil above it. The top feels like it's pulling up and off the car - and it works against the down force of the splitter and spoiler.

That sounds like great trackday GT, I don't think you would have pulled much more in 6th, it is so tall that I think terminal velocity in our cars (save the speed limiter) is probably achieved in 5th.

UPDATE - I'm making progress on my upgrade issues. Either the Whipple TB, the stock electronics and/or mechanicals were bad.

Since the Stage 3 upgrade last year, I was going failsafe and getting 2104, 2111 and 2112. These codes are stuck open, stuck closed and forced idle. At first it was just once a month or so and I had some drive-ability concerns, but it didn't appear to be a serious problem. Though coincidentally with the 2.9 upgrade, the problem got much worse. In addition to the TB codes, I was now also getting 171 and 174 - "too lean" codes. So - Fred helped me with another Whipple TB,new stock TPS and mechanicals. I swapped this out yesterday and this resolved most of the issues.

I should note - this is one of those Evo "above and beyond" fixes. Ford didn't want to talk with me about the stock TPS and mechanicals that are moved from our stock TB to the Whipple TB, which should have been covered under warranty. Fred worked out a way to address it himself.

Ah yes the P0171 code, had that a few times myself with the 2.9. I haven't had it recently while on the dyno. I am going to try some street driving this week and see if I it trips that code again.

John all due respect but surely you can't expect Ford to get involved in this after you remove their TPS sensor and TB motor , reinstall them on an aftermarket TB (Monoblade) with an aftermarket tune which has various different parameters changed that directly affect how the TB opperates.........not to mention a completly different SuperCharger installed.
This issue is something that should be addressed only by the shop that made these changes in this case Evolution Preformance, which it appears to be in the process of doing and I'm sure will solve.
