Default Headlight Tint

If I remember right, it was a link on eBay. Does anyone have the information on where the Headlight Tint for the GT500 can be purchased?

This cold weather is driving me nuts, and I need a project.

If you are talking about the film that goes over the headlights, there were not too many people who liked them. They said that if you decide to remove them, it is very difficult to try and avoid scratching the lenses and it leaves alot of the goo behind. I was thinking about doing it to mine since I thought it looked pretty neat on vapor but decided not to do it.

Cool Re: Headlight Tint

I put on the ones from XPEL.com

They look very good!

They do make the lights dark though if you drive at night.

I have since taken them off. Very easy w/ a heat gun or hair dryer. No residue left behind.

The reason?

I bought the Veil to apply to my headlamps and markers.

They say that the Veil looks a little like tint so I'm going to try that and see what it looks like. The Veil deters being picked up by Laser radar.

The Veil can be applied several coats, so I can use it to 'tint' a little.

The only thing I'm not sure yet is that the Veil if applied several coats makes the headlamp look 'dirty' not real smooth like tint.

We'll see.

I got the tint for my GT at Headlightarmor.com. I went with the 30% tint. They make a GT500 kit.
07-09 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Lighting Portection Kits

Stangmods.com doesn't sell kits for the GT500, but they do sell bulk film. If I were to do it again, I would go for the bulk film. I felt that the pre-cut film from Headlight Armor needed to be about an 1/8" bigger all the way around for a proper fit. I tinted the head lights, fog lamps & front turn signals.

How is the night time driving? I would hate to have the lights to be too dark for night driving. There are alot of deer around here and I have to keep a eye out on them.

Mine were pretty dim.

If done w/ bulk film I would remove the headlamps and markers and do it.

They are easy to remove...not that I would know.

Real good. I've got HIDs, but they were dimmed a little, but still brighter than the stock halogens. People who don't see them everyday don't see any differences like I do.

I removed mine to install the pre-cut ones. It made it a lot easier to put the tint on.

No, not yet. I'm still debating those. I did mine mainly to tone down the contrast of the front lights against the dark color of the paint.

I had the Xpel smoked tinting on my 07 GT500 and It looked good and the night time vision was a little darker but acceptable. I was thinking about doing the same to my 09 but I'm not sure if the HID lights will cause a problem. Xpel tech support said that they haven't experienced any problems with the HID.
Do the HID burn hotter than regular lights?
Do you think it would be OK to ad the Xpel to the HID???

HIDs run cooler than regular lights. The power requirements for my HIDs is 35 Watts. For the regular lights it's 55 Watts. I've had mine tinted since August & have used the headlights just about everyday since with no problem.

I lost a little initially, but not more than the OEM bulbs without tint. The headlights in those pictures are 6000k (white with a little blue) bulbs. The place I bought them from recently upgraded from a 4 ballast harness for a 2 ballast harness. This required a new set of bulbs, so I went with the 4300k (pure white) instead of the 6000k ones. From my perspective at night, the tint really doesn't affect the brightness of the lights anymore.

I dont recomend tinting tail lights. I do like the look but in the daytime which is when most of us drive our cars they are extremely hard to see. So if you have to stop quick or stop at all the guy behind you can't see the lights.

+1

I've seen a few cars with tinted taillights & unless you switch over to LED lights to increase the brightness, the stock get most of their light sucked out by the tint.
