Default Hood struts

I've decided I finally need to get off the fence and decide which hood strut I'm going to install.

Must be no-drill, easy to bolt on, and actually work and hold up the hood.

Steeda? I've heard 95% good. Only issue is that the piece that attached to the fender can rotate or move due to the design.

MRT? Looks nice, and it's black! Any first hand experience out there (esp. on a GT500)?

SPP/Blueoval? Like the look, but have heard stories about it binding up due to some incorrect dimensions causing the strut to bind. Any experience or is it just internet rumor?

Any other ones I'm missing?

Default Struts

I put the MRT struts on mine as I liked the idea of the black on my black GT500. Whichever one you put on, if you have a temporary brain freeze like I did, when it comes times to attach the struts to the brackets, if the strut seems too long, raise the hood off the stock prop rod. Forget about trying to compress the strut itself. I know, seems stupid, but I'll bet other people tried it too, before figuring out another way. It's not in the instructions. They work great and keep that silly rod out of the way.

Cool

Can anyone advise a good retailer for the MRT's that's what I was looking for something in black instead of the plain billet. Match the car better. I see Stillen sells a black strut set, don't know if its theirs or another manufacturer though.

StangMods.com has the MRT's

I just got mine installed tonight and I LOVE them. Easy install, no drill and the black powdercoat looks great.

Steeda? I've heard 95% good. Only issue is that the piece that attached to the fender can rotate or move due to the design.

I got the Shelby Performance Parts ones. Installation literally took 5 minutes for the first, 3 for the second. (I'm a quick learner.)

I kind of wish they were black (to go with the black 'vert) but honestly, how much do you keep the hood up? [After the KB gets installed, alot more, I'm sure.]

Well - I bit the bullet and ordered the MRT's last night (thanks for the discount code guys!).

Hopefully install this weekend, then it's time to put on the JLT CF radiator cover!

Definitely do the struts first, they make under hood work SO much easier! I'd put them on as soon as you get them in, it was unbelievably easy.

Great to hear, I knew they looked pretty rugged but you never know. I know what your mechanic means they make being under the hood so much more enjoyable.

Joe,

While it is possible to do this install by yourself, it makes it a lot easier if you get someone to hold the hood up for the minute or two that it takes to snap the struts onto the mounts.
