Honestly I went shopping for a GT, I told the dealer "any color but red". Nobody had (in my area) a GT 5 speed ! Nothin but automatics. While the dealer was working out details on a vista blue GT 5 speed to be sent from Temecula... My buddy and I started checking out this Black SGT on the lot.
Well long story short, the dealer offered me the SGT for less than the GT!
I jumped on it. So Black it is...

First let me say I haven't seen a Shelby in a color I didn't like, they all look great to me. That said.........

Well It came down to either Red, White , Blue or Black.

I have a bright Red 2001 Lightning ...didn't want another Red vehicle plus the wife didn't either so Red was ruled out.

I wanted White but my 7 year old grand son said no to White because his family car was a White Explorer, so White was ruled out.

It came down to either Black or Blue. I really like the Black but was worried about the cleaning aspect (which as it turns out is probably not any more difficult than the Blue is). So Black was ruled out .

I finally, being the conservative person that I am .chose Vista Blue with White stripes because it is an old traditional Shelby color combo and also Carrolls favorite color.

I went black with stripe delete and alloy rocker stripes.Stealthy and it gives me something to cry about when I see all of the scratches from washing it.

I didn't get a choice with the color or stripes, only with the automatic transmission and convertible. They only had 4 2008 Shelby GTs left through the military car sales in the Persian Gulf, all Vista Blue with silver stripes. I was not a fan of the color but I have grown to love it. I got the last automatic convertible and couldn't be happier with my decision as there are no 2009s and although they are selling some 6 GT 500s and 2 GT 500KRs, they are doing it with a lottery. So you have to enter a drawing this year.

At first, I was going to get a Black with silver stripes but I snoozed too long and some overseas bought it. I was looking to get an Alloy with silver stripes but someone had to show me a Vapor with black stripes. I fell in love with the Vapor color plus it had all the options that I wanted so I bought it and at a good price.

My wife didn't care as long as it wasn't red. Didn't want another red vehicle in the stable as my 01 Lightning is red.

I had an opportunity to by a black 1968 convertible gt500 way back when I was 19. The guy only wanted $7000.00 but I was 19 and had no money. So I always vowed to have a black shelby vert. I still couldn't afford a 68 so I did the next best thing and bought a new one. I couldn't be happier and so is my wife.

My first GT500 vert was black. I had been looking for a GT500 coupe off and on for about 6 months, but didn't want to pay over MSRP. Then one night while I was surfing eBay, I spotted a black vert for MSRP. I wasn't looking for a vert, nor was I really wanting a black car. But the SO really liked the idea of the vert, and I liked the stealth look of the black with no stripes. So I bought it.

Within a few weeks, I spotted an ad placed by Michael Morris on TS that he had a Red Stripe black vert on order. I'm such a sucker for rarity. So MM and I began a conversation, and I ended up buying the Red Stripe car and selling my original GT500, at only 98 miles.

I'm glad I made the jump. It's not stealthy by any means, but I really like the red stripes and the red seat inserts, and I like the fact that probably less than 200 will be made.
