CHEFAPALOOZA 2010: if we build will they come?

So we are looking to see if there would be any interest in a Florida based 3 day event here in Florida... We are going to look into local speed shop involvement as well as a big car show at a local dealer... We are in preliminary stages but some ideas we are looking at include track days at either a drag strip of maybe even a Sebring style track... Looking at a cruise and a lobster fest BBQ at a local beach park... Anyways I know we can get 60-70 locals but what about the family... What about a timeline? Next spring after Easter and spring break....thoughts???

Consider your dates carefully. Late April is shelbyfest.

Why not an end of summer event?

You have Shelbyfest in the spring and Orfstock in the summer. Why not a late September or early October event? Nicely spaced out so people can plan any, or all, if they like.

miles (who cares) it's the gas 2.879 a gallon. I miss the cheap gas in VA. I know I shouldn't bitch it could be like last year 4.00 a gallon.

Late summer post labor day is a great idea however it's also the toughest to organize and get participation with kids back in school and the last quarter of a fiscal year coming to the end.. what do others think??

Kids are in school around Easter and Spring Break, too, not to mention that vacation schedules that time of year vary by school.

I would think late summer would be best too. Maybe right before school starts? Shelbyfest in the spring and Orfstock the weekend before July 4 makes Chefapalooza a late summer natural IMO.

That's right Chef.....you promised to make the next Shelbyfest. There is also Memorial Day weekend. That is in between Shelbyfest, Tulsa and Orfstock.

Right before school starts is starting to look better and better

Great idea Chef, but too far for me. Occasionally we do go to Florida for vacation at my dad's condo, so if we knew a date well in advance we MIGHT be able to make it work, but many other variables would come into play (we both work in finance and there are only certain weeks of each month that we are permitted to take vacations). Either way, we'd fly...so would not have the Shelby....likely a Prius.
