Winding Road drives all 4 Camaro-engine combos

Winding Road e-mag got to drive all four Camaro engine combinations on real roads -- their brief review.

I love Fords and Winding Road is the straightest-shooting bunch of enthusiast reviewers around, imo. Unlike the rag-mags, they seem to "get it" so I thought ya'll might be interested in their observations.

In general they really like it's power an neutral balance -- ally 'vette-drived LS3 is almost as light as the V6(!). Their comparo is just among Camaros. However, they did comment that the interior falls short when compared to the 2010 Mustang.

Ok, Ford, let's get that 5.0 alloy Coyote in that '11 GT and BOSS and the alloy 5.4 primed for the '11MY GT500 ...please.

Be warned, torque is an addictive drug, so use with caution. Under its influence you'll be drawn to deserted cul de sacs to perform ruckus doughnuts that produce so much tire smoke that squirrels will be smoked out from surrounding trees.

I really don't care for the look of this car. Not even sure better late than never applies to this one.

Interesting read. But I wonder, does the presence of an IRS have a placebo effect? The 2010 Mustang actually pulls more G's in cornering tests.

Another factor will be the durability of the IRS. This isn't a Corvette with a torque tube and rear transmission. Once the bow-tie boys blow or spray one of those SSs and pop the clutch at 3500 to 4000, how is the IRS going to hold up? I would worry - I doubt the Government had that in mind when they said, we will back their warranty...

It's a wonder that the government didn't specify which cars and trucks they would warrant. I figured they would step in and say they would only guarentee the warrenty on hybrids and plug-ins and anything that has over 30 MPG.

Obama wants to change the '11 CAFE now ...'11!!! ...and then again as planned in '12. The Whitehouse doesn seem to understand why changing '11 CAFE alone will cost $1.4B. Some how they don't quite understand that the '11s are already fully-baked and well into on-road testing, etc. Ignorance really is bliss, I guess. Makes sense since Congress' version of long term planning seems to be ...Tuesday!

Maybe we'll still get the alloy goodies because it does save weight -- weight is mileage! (or, to Al Gore, sustainable carbon-footprint reduction -lol)

I've been a Camaro guy most of my life but can't see what people like in that thing. The front end is nice, but the rear looks like a Corvette IMO. The car has goofy mirrors, weighs too much (like ours does), and the interior is lost between the dinosaur age and 1970s olive green appliances.

Now is our best chance. Since I have the taxpayer by the balls, I can afford to take the $1.4B from all you rich people who own GT500s and spend it to clean up the air around my houses.

My long-term plan will be complete by Tuesday.
