wonder what gears - termie has 3.55 stock vs 3.31 for the gt500. A little more weight on the GT500....probably explains it. Termies are great cars. No where near as comfortable as the newer models though.

The question is what was done to the 03 to achieve the 500rwhp vs the GT500's 540rwhp ?
Mod for mod the GT500 would have much more HP and I believe would be faster .

Both those cars are pretty evenly matched with HP and more importantly torque numbers. The Terminator is probably making around 500RWTQ and the GT500 is making about 507 RWTQ (based on evo combo that bumps stock numbers 100RWHP and 85RWTQ.)
The big difference is weight first and then when the torque comes into play. The GT500 is 255lbs heavier. Also I believe the torque comes on later on the terminator. So even though the GT500 has a flatter torque curve overall, this Terminator has more torque coming on later (4500RPMS and up) which partially explains the pull at the higher RPMs. No doubt the Terminators are nice packages. I wish I had one. But would I trade my GT500? No. To get a Terminator to make 500RWHP it will cost $3-4K which would include a ported SC. If you spend $2400 at Evo you can get a Stage 2 setup which I think is similar options in mods (minus the need to upgrade fuel system or port the SC) and you will net 201RWHP and 215RWTQ. It would be hard for this Terminator to keep up at that point. Bottom line is you can mod anything to be fast. The terminators will be the one of the best values to make kick ass power and performance for some time to come. |

I still say 331's vs 355's assuming no one had a swap done. It's more likely the termie did given the mods to get to the 500 than the GT500 did to get to 540.
