Now for the other funny story. I have alot.
When we were kids, I think I was probably 12 or 13, we found a dead raccoon on the road, and heard some little cries coming from the ditch. Mom got hit by a car and two little kits were still alive. My mom, the nurturing critter she is  decided we would rescue them. They were so cute! Little kittens almost. They climbed up on or laps and they do have a sound that sounds like a cat purring. Then they started to grow up. Their claws wil ldig into furniture. They got moved to a pen where they still wanted contact (we were their parents now) but like all wild animals - they were. Eventually we contacted the zoo in Sioux Falls and they took them in. We also raised pheasants (my picture of a rooster in our "pen" took first place at the camera club when I was in college). Pheasant without shotgun b-bs tases really good. They ate the same corn as in the fields so they didn't taste any different but not having to watch out for the shell shot was nice. We also had, believe it not, a pet chicken. My grandfather rasied some Chinese Silkies and ours - Charlie - was a pet. He came into the house and was paper trained. Their pure white feathers looked like fur and his comb was pure black.

This little guy was at my friend Gordie's house (his dog Roxxy is my god daughter).
 Gordie made the artsy-craftsy thing. In fact, his mom (87 years old now, and she lives 1/2 the year in Vegas at his sister's house - I always go see them whenever I can when I'm out there). He repainted some old ducks:
