Cool photos of breaking the sound barrier
When a plane (or other things) pass through the sound barrier ("Mach 1") the sonic boom isn't the only thing that happens. In the right climate conditions (high humidity being one requirement) a "cloud" can form in the pressure gradients. The result is photos like this:

Although not supersonic, here's a B-2 picture with it's cloud cloak activated.
They first saw this back in 1990 & classified it until they fully understood the phenomenon.
