The Mouse That Roared
I'm watching The Mouse That Roared. The TCM intro compared it to a Woody Allen movie - basically a film that allowed Peter Sellers to do his schtick.
The premise is that "There isn’t a more profitable undertaking for any country than to declare war on the United States and be defeated." So the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, who is on the verge of bankruptcy because their only export - a wine - has been copied. They decide that the Americans are find and honorable and that declaring war on the US and losing is a good way to get money. Note to self: Hmmm, I wonder who ever would have thunk that? But then, they show up in New York City, having made their declaration... ... and win the war. How it happens would be a spoiler so just watch it. It's a funny movie. I have the book somewhere too...
