The author is an editor of Playboy magazine. The web site (and magazine, May 2009) have an excerpt from the book retelling the '64 Lemans race.

Pam got the book from the library. It's a real book. Like I mean a real book with words and not pictures. Because of the vacation schedule I think I'm goin to buy one and take it with me.

AJ is a Playboy auto editor. One chapter was in the mag.

Iacocca's vision included a new model, and a marketing theme to seal it, a way to make a statement: Ford cars were about performance, style, adventure. He knew America was ripe for something different. The numbers were ther ein the market research, and he could feel it in his gut. Together with his chief enginerr Donald Frey, he approached the styling department. Within days, a secret prototype was in the works. The original name was Torino, after the Italian city Turin. But it would one day soon become ta car called Mustang.

"Put in a class for the Mass," Iacocca told his designers. "If we're right, this will maeke a Mdel A look like nothing."

This is on page 12. We haven't even gotten close to LeMans.

I'm hooked. With other schedules, I might have to buy a copy to go to the meeting and send the library version back.
