Hit a f'npothole.. A big pothole ERRRR
DENTED THE CRAP OUT OF MY 20'S..(35mph felt like 75).. And the town says out of luck. Anyone know how pothole laws are or if the are worth fighting in court? it was in the shadows so didn't see till to late.
I hardly ever drive the damn thing and this crap happens..........I'M PISSED!

Our city claims Emminent Domain on everything.
Meaning in this type situation you are out of luck. If a police car or 'any' of our city vehicles hit you...you are out of luck. A friend found out the hard way.  .

We pay "BIG TAXES" around here and they do crap to maintain the roads, yet that department gets most of it....So they can stand around and look busy..........UNBELIAVABLE!

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. I would do some research and find out what type of recourse you have. TG, Eminent Domain has to do with private property acquisitions by government and has nothing to do with the conditions of the roadway or a cop car crashing into a public citizens vehicle.
Not sure what load of bull they sold your friend on, but seems to me that it wasn't right. I had a rim dented by a lose manhole cover on my street bike many years ago. I was very lucky I didn't crash and the local county paid for the replacement. Was over 600 at the time for the rim, tire and labor.

Man that really sucks. I can understand the frustration. Another reason why I will avoid 20" wheels...not saying it wouldn't have happened to the 18s either but at least you get a little bit more protection. Do you think the rims can be repaired? I know some places can fix them if they aren't too bad.

if I remember right, I want to say the last person who had his wheels fixed that had been bent it was around $100 a wheel. Of course, probably depends on the extent of the damage and whether they can be fixed.

In most cities up in Canada you can get compensated, the City of Toronto has a specific process to follow but they will pay out. You literally have to take pictures of the pothole and your damages immediately and provide the location and they will take their sweet time investigating but will pay you especially if you get your City Councillor involved. Sorry to hear that, it really sucks. You may stand a chance if the pothole was previously reported, and ignored. I would start out by calling DOT to report a hazardous condition, then ask if it was previously repoted and ask for some sort of log number.
