Hitler was finished when he took on the Russians, he underestimated their resolve and the Nazis inability to supply The Russian Front adequately, sowed the seeds for the Nazi's defeat. That said, they damn near won anyway, just ask any WW2 veteran.

The speculation is that the war had gone into 1946 (through better management on Hitler's behalf) that these weapons would've been big trouble for us & the Allies. They may have even gotten their nuke program fully operational too.

One thing that helped the Allies out was the US entering the war when they did instead of a couple years later.

No doubt about that, the war may have been more expeditious if the United States had entered with the rest of the Allies in 1939 but the reality is the US had little interest in WW2, until one humiliating day in Hawaii in 1941.

It was a big mistake for the Japs and Germans to "poke the bear" because the US brought 4 main things to the table that tilted the war in the Allies favor.

1) Lots of Fresh absolutely fearless soldiers.
2) Unrivaled Manufacturing Capacity (which brought lots of new efficient weapons to the Air and Battlefield)
3) General Eisenhower (one of the greatest military minds in the WAR)
4) NUKES (Game over)

Don't forget all the raw materials (steel, oil, rubber, lumber etc) that Germany and Japan were having trouble keeping up with to support their own war machine.

1. We still have them.
2. Ooops.
3. Ike was one of the greatest military minds, but the generals under him were at least as good if not better. Patton, McAuliffe were great ground strategists.
4. Still got em, but so does everyone else that matters.

It is #2 that scares me the most. We've turned over almost all of our hard goods manufacturing to those that would likely be our enemies in any future world-wide crisis. I doubt China will supply us with steel to make aircraft carries, battleships, tanks, during the next one.

You are correct America's industrial base is just a shell of what it once was ...all because in big business's quest for higher profits they have moved almost all manufacturing out of the country. That's why getting the big three in the black and saving is even more important than ever.

I saw the show on Nat. Geo today. The stealth plane was made of wood. The company JD works for built a replica to see if it could evade radar. The show showed the entire building of the plane. the real scary thing was that the germans were building a stealth wing big enough to carry an atomic bomb that the show said they would have had by 1946. Was pretty cool how the used todays technology along with old world tools to build this just as the germans designed it. It was a jet wing that could do 600 mph which would have been no match for the fighters of that time.
