Can you say SALE ON SALEENS? I think I might just call the local dealer and see how bad they want to get rid of them!!!

I know where there's a really pretty one. It's got Saleen's exclusive silver color on it. They only wanted something like $97k for it thought. It's an extreme.....with an extreme price. I think the paint is listed as a $17k option.

This is trouble for current owners but the new cars left on lots will probably come with a warranty as Dealers will just buy Power-train Warranties from companies like GE and just add the cost onto the vehicles.

The Saleen brand though is ruined after this stunt. IMO

The dealer I bought my GT500 from also sold Saleens and I test drove one before deciding on the Shelby, they were having trouble moving them then, I can only imagine what they are stuck with now. They had a convertible 06 that was still on the showroom floor they were trying to sell as new when I bought my Shelby in March 08... I also think it is still there!

For sure. Lots of inventory still around. A few dealers near me had 2 year old models collecting dust too.

When I went to one last fall for the seatbelt TSB they had just sold a two model year old one for about the same price as a standard Mustang GT (it was a SC version, but not the Extreme). Sales Mgr said they took a beating on it, but it was costing them $$ every month it sat so they finally took what they could get.

Funny thing is that they wouldn't budge off of MSRP when I was looking for my GT500 - asked them about the Saleen and they said they never sell them for under MSRP and wouldn't start then.

Never really impressed with any of thier upgrades and always thought you could do better on your own mods. Bad thing is, this may in turn happen to Shelby, so good thing our cars are under a Ford warranty!!!

I think SAI is headed for the same fate in about 2 years. When the deal with Ford is over I feel they will go down quickly there after. JMO.

What does this mean for Shelby GT's and KR's? They carry the standard warranty from Ford don't they?

..that and the fact that more and more of those with money to be spent on fun cars did not grow up with CS as a racing legend, so they are less likely to pay extra for things with his name on them.....being a racing legend only lasts a limited time, although to his credit, CS has done very well with his legend.....

...since they were built in a partnership with ford and shelby, I don't think that ford could walk away from a warranty if shelby failed, but it could be messy for a while until things got sorted out......supersnakes, terlinquas etc would be a different story.
