I would be worried w/ an 03 Cobra over 500 hp.

He had a 3.4 Whipple on it. Not sure what else he had. He was last and I left early.

not sure what you expected to pull but it was a nice video of your car. Who ever did the video got a lot of nice detail in there down to the brake rotors even. The last dyno pull you could see the A/F was right where it needs to be at WOT so over all I'd say it looks like a success unless you expected 700 rwhp out of it.
Nice video either way though - thanks |

So since the Dynojet showed 600 - should I extrapolate this and figure my real Mustang dyno numbers were skewed and actually closer to 550? Or maybe my understanding about Dynojet is incorrect? Or maybe the Mustang dynos were not setup correctly? I tend to think the Evo dynos are reliable - though they do tune the car... Along those lines - this shop did all the work on the 03 Cobras. Was the Dynojet dialed-down when I ran, and dialed-up for the 03s? How do you know? I just found the numbers in the end curious - there were clearly some fans there - but others that resented my car.

I'd just take them for what they are. When a Mustang Dyno is tuned in properly I think they will be pretty close to a dyno jet. They can be set to read higher or lower....what they allow for more than the dyno jet as i understand it is tuning because they can simulate real world driving with the resistance. They can also do a 1/4 mile pass and be pretty close.
The Dyno jet does not have that adjustment ability as I understand it. Thus all cars goin on it are tested the same with no inputs that change the results but also not as capable as the mustang dyno in other areas. It all depends on who is running the dyno jet really. I have haeard 5-10% higher on dyno jet as well but there are many factors that play in and the little amount you were off could be that your car was not as cool? Conditions were not as good, or you didn't take it up as high in the RPM range? I pulled 784 on the evo dyno in good conditions then in crappy conditions on a dynojet at Shelbyfest I pulled only 750ish - I think it was conditions more than anything there for me and I think that Evo's mustang Dyno is tuned in pretty close to what you will see on a Dyno jet as they know what they are doing there. I had my first ever dyno done here when my car was new for a base line on a mustang dyno (by a moron) and I pulled 610 rwhp with a bone stock new car...don't we wish that was true). I then went to the shop I work with now who has a Dyno Jet and pulled like 436-440. That was the base line we used. I have not been on that dynojet yet with this set up but probably this winter i will for some testing we are planning on doing. Over all i wouldn't be too worries over a few HP like that....more important was your tune was on the $ and the car looks and sounds great. |
