Roger linked this on the TS site , thought it might be of interest here to the Family as well.
Not sure it will be a hit or not but they are obviously trying to get into the NHRA scene. Only 50 cars made though. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/15/f...r-this-summer/ |

Pretty interesting, seems like a good motor choice for the car with all the aftermarket parts avail for our cars. Am a bit surprised that they could get the funding for this given the problems Ford is having and the price of gas right now. (not that I am complaining)
I also wonder about the Tasca tie in that you mentioned, Tasca is producing "cobra jet" packages on standard GT's at their dealership I believe and "super cobra jet" pacages to Shelby's too so I wonder how this will affect their ability to use the name for these. I spoke to the Owner of the first super CJ about what he has had done to his car and it was pretty extensive but sounds like its more of a custom build than a standard thing. |

In those states that have passed SEMA-modelled retro-car legislation, even tho Ford is offering those as off-road only, they very likely could be registered as owner-built 1968 'vintage' cars and get a new DMV serial applied since such 'vintage' cars are permitted to be built from all new (not NOS) parts.
At last count some 27-30 states had passed such SEMA model legislation. Best of all, 1968 polution levels would apply!!! ...would make the basis for one mean 600-700HP retro street car (with a few tweaks -- what a sleeper that would have been for choosing a match-up at White Castle in 1968!! ![]() ;-)
