Kind of cool but I'm near deaf,I probably don't need any more extra noise than necessary outside of the car is OK though

This does not apply to the GT500 only the reg GT.

I read the GT500 gets it too.

Ford is opening up the diaphragm as a new aftermarket interface. I think they mentioned that, I beleive, at one of the SEMA OEM 'measurement' sessions. You'll soon be able to order different diaphragms to modify the sound -- at least that's what I read/saw somewhere -- forget where.

One of the reviews I read stated that there was a factory installed piece of insulation in the sound tube. It was one of the first things they removed.

Wow that is interesting. Of course I have a device already built into my car that let's me hear the engine quite well. It's called a convertible top!

I think it's intended to add some of that old-time NA induction sound that we miss (well, some of us old timers ...like carnut ) ...you know that old BWWWWwwwwwaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAA, BBWWWWWWwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAA, BBWWWWWWwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (repeat as necessary ;-))

My sound tube just goes plllhhhttt pllhhhttt now. An occasional barrom but as I said, most plllhhhttt.

I'm all for hearing the engine, but don't think the extra cost and weight of this item, even if small, is worth it. I think car makers put too many of these "unnecessary" things on cars to begin with. (can you say "cabin air filter"?)

Just imagine the next step...they will simply pipe in the sound of a GT500 into a Ford Fusion. What would we think of that?

I think a preferred approach would be a device in the exhaust that could be tuned by the driver to allow more or less noise come out of the exhaust.

Like a muffler! (umm, sorry, Dave ;-))

Actually, you might have a great idea there! Tuneable Mufflers! Alloy Dave's SoundWave(R) -- the worlds first tuneable muffler!!! An inlet collar that rotates and changes baffle geometry or perforation tube position/exposure or ???

...comes with a holesaw for permanent "track" setting! ;-)

Actually Dan I was thinking more along the lines of a "noise" generator...an electronic device that could be controlled with a dial...not something you have to get under the car and swap out.
