I'm talking really good places to eat here. I'm sure cheffie will add some good ideas for his (his own places), but we've all eating at great restaurants.
When you post, be sure to include approximate price ranges. sometimes the best places are good not because of the food, but maybe the atmosphere or the value. Web sites or addresses are helpful, so that when some of us travel we can hit the good places. My favorite without regards to price is St. Elmo's Steakhouse in Indianapolis. Great food, the best service I've had in my life, not too stuffy (jeans are ok), fabulous shrimp cocktail with fresh horseradish that will make your eyes water, great ambiance with lots of natural woodwork (of course ), just a great all around place. The only downside is the price. Terry and I will go, have 2 drinks each, and with a tip that will cost us about $130. We can only afford to go about once a year...but it's something to look forward to.ST ELMO STEAK HOUSE For value, my favorite is Outback Steakhouse. It's 80% as good as St. Elmos, and a similar meal only costs about 40% as much. Outbacks are everywhere. And for uniqueness, I ate at a place in Cincinnati once (don't think it's still there) called the Last National Bank. It was housed in a bank, and some of the tables were in an actual bank vault. They wrapped the silverware in fake $1,000 bills, and the meals had names like "the teller" and "bullion soup". Very fun. I did a search and the only one I could find is in Connecticut. Hilltop Steakhouse
In 1961 Frank Giuffrida bought a club in Saugus that he converted into a western-style steakhouse. With his wife Irene, as the hostess, they worked seven days a week and before long the Hilltop became the number One Steakhouse, a title it still holds today. Frank was soon known to be the "king of the Hill" serving over three million customers annually. His success was largely due to his generous nature, which he reflected into his business with great quality and quantity. The Hilltop is still known today for it's quality and generous portions at a great value. Over the course of the past 40 years Hilltop has won numerous awards and accolades. Most recently Hilltop was awarded #1 Steakhouse (City search 2003), #2 Independent Restaurant (Restaurant & Institutions Magazine 2002) and many more. Dick Monfort of High Country Investors in Colorado, acquired assets of the Saugus Hilltop In October 1994. The Hilltop Steak House Restaurant in Saugus has five rooms function rooms for business meetings, bridal showers, family events, and elegant weddings. We also offer an off premise catering division called "The Chuck Wagon". The Chuck Wagon concept is simple. With a minimum of fifty people you can hire us to do a barbecue anywhere, corporate or private. We come to your place of business, backyard, park, beach etc. We cook and serve a menu that you pre-select. We bring everything needed for a barbecue. Grills, chefs, wait staff, buffet tables, all paper goods, condiments etc. We cook, serve and clean up. The Chuck Wagon has been very popular and has blossomed into a full service catering business. In addition to our now famous barbecues, we do clam bakes, weddings, showers, anniversaries, holiday parties etc. A sampling of our menu is available online at the host station and in the catering office.

St Elmo's looks like a great place. I looked at their wine list. The have a couple of my favorite cabs listed. Like you mention above, price is an issue. The Stags Leap Faye is listed at $250 a bottle. The Silver Oak is $300 a bottle. Good stuff. HSURB® |

The Chuck Wagon sounds like a good idea for one of our Mafia Family events. ![]() If I get up to that area I'll have to try it out...unfortunately I've been to Boston once, and may not be back there for quite some time (not that I didn't like it, but we try to go to NEW places each year). Unless the Raiders play at New England.

If you like Prime Rib, here's your place:
:: Lawry's Restaurant :: I've been to the one in Chicago and Tokyo... Lawry's The Prime Rib is an extraordinary place. Located in the heart of the Magnificent Mile, it is a Chicago treasure housed in the 1890's McCormick Mansion that would become world-famous as the Kungsholm light opera theatre. Reopened by Lawry's in 1974, that history is echoed in our restaurant's grand sweeping staircase and beautiful English manor house setting. Enter and feel invited into a world of generous spaces, comfortable elegance and warm welcome.

I'll start with one that will make everyon laugh but it is one of my favorites. Denny's. Most are dated but they have great food and good value and usually good service and the 24 hours thing is a big plus to me. I like Perkins the same way but for some reason I find myself at Denny's more.
The best food for breakfast I have found is actually the Sunrise Cafe. Their fruit is like it was just picked even in the winter. Prices are slightly above Denny's but not at all high. For a nicer dinner we like Ruth's Chris steak house: Ruth's Chris Steak House : A Serious Steak Restaurant It can be costly because it is one of those places where everything is seperate and it ads up fast for a couple of steaks with muchrooms or onions, a side or two, an some drinks you are in the 120-150 range......for good value and good steak we like the Texas Roadhouse: Texas Roadhouse Prices are quite good compared to those with the bigger names as a classy place (St. Elmo's, Ruth's Chris, Petersons, etc.) and the Filet at the road house is clost to the same quality....they also offer take out so you can drive in and pick up with out going inside the normal resteraunt. I love Italian food so I have to throw on Buca's: Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant We actually had our rehersal dinner for the wedding here. We rented a room and they serve family style so when pizza came out everyone scarfed it down but it was an appatizer. We had Parm. Chicken and Torteloni (SP?) in cream sauce for months after the honey moon. The portions are big and the food is all good. Prices are about $20 - $30 per person. They give enough that you can share and still have plenty of what you wanted. I am also a lover if ice cream: Cold Stone Creamery - The Ultimate Ice Cream Experience They have some of the best ice cream and some wonderful concoctions. They are bit pricey IMO for icecream but for a treat they just can't be beat. I love Ribs & BBQ too. I've not found a place here that really has something I have to have but the Montgomery inn was good when it was here: Montgomery Inn - Home of the World's Greatest Ribs I can't recall pricess but I would guess about $30 per person for a good meal and maybe a beer. If you have not figured it out I could go on for ever on this. I like to eat ![]() Pizza I have many favorites but I think Giordano's in Chicago stuffed pizza is the best I have had: Giordano's, Chicagos World Famous Stuffed Pizza - $20-$35 bucks for a stuffed pizza depending on what you put in it. It's a lot of food too ![]() Another nice chain that has good food and atmosphere and some of the best Frech Onion soup (another favorite of mine) is Champps bar believe it or not. Champps Home I don't get to go there much anymore - I dated a waitress there about 10 yrs ago and my wife has a weird issue with me being there...very odd given all the other things she doesn't mind me doing. Oh - i also like chineese food but I actually like the buffet's.....$4.95 all you can eat baby! |

I was Born at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro NC. Dad was stationed there 3 times. Our favorite barbecue place of all time is Wilber's Barbecue.

I travel and entertain customers throughout the year. Two years ago, I took customers to Mastro's Ocean Club in Scottsdale, AZ. It was hands down the best dining experience and food I've ever had.
In fact, I was in Baltimore with those same customers last month, and they brought it up at dinner. It was pricey, but an overall great experience. HUSRB® Mastro's Ocean Club Restaurant |

The best ribeye I've had was at a local restaurant called Timbuktu. Dinner for my wife & I, with drinks ran about $60. It's a family place, but still has some semi-private seating. My wife got a seafood fettuccine & my ribeye was over an inch thick, 2-3 inches wide & 6 inches long with very little fat on it. Good service & a very nice atmosphere.
The owners of this place also owner several others including one called G&M Restaurant. I was never a crab cake fan until I went here. The service is great & the crab cakes are wonderful. ` |

I like Texas Road House baby back ribs.
My favorte seafood place is The Fish Market (several in the Bay Area, we usually go to the one in Santa Clara). But my favorite seafood place is Aliotos on the Wharf (or any of the others nearby.) Have to go to Oskars to watch the 2nd half of the Broncos game. I'll think of some more while I'm there.

I swear, you and I are brothers. I've taken a group of customers to Scottsdale the last 3 years. The last 2, we went to Mastro's. We had a private room both times. Fantastic service, awesome food (did you get the seafood tower??? Holy buckets that's a lot of seafood!!!). ![]() First year we just ordered off the menu - bad idea. $$$$$$$$This year we had a special menu with a few options for each course - it was just as good for about 1/2 the price. It as also because of this yearly trip that I met Carnut and Mrs. Carnut. Two of the most wonderful people around. Just remember the rule in Carnut's garage... ![]() ![]() -
