Wow unbelievable. I looked at the proposed projects just in CT. Most all of them are inner city wish lists with the exception of replacing or repairing a few bridges very few are absolutely critical and IMO should be local projects paid by that city with money from their budget not form the federal gov.

The problem with city's like Bridgeport (where most of the work on the CT list is ) is the average citizen is from a low income tax bracket ( although the city tax rate is extremely high) and for the most part would not be sharing much in the burden of paying for this. It would be put on the citizens of surrounding towns and city's instead who are burdened enough already.


Furthermore CT is a union labor state which means in order to be eligible to get any of these construction jobs you have to employ union workers . That of course means there's no way the work can be done with any real cost savings to the tax payer.

It also means that most all of these jobs will not and can not go to the average small self employed non union business owner who makes up the majority of the work force .

I see this merely as a payback to the unions and inner city minority's for their support to the Obama campaign at taxpayer expense.

This type of excessive spending especially at a bad economic time like this is insane and is not the right way to get America working . The best thing they could have done was to cut capitol gains and cut taxes equally percentage wise across the board so money would be put back in the hands of small business owners who actually employ Americas workforce.
Instead they will penalize the very people who put America to work by raising their taxes simply because they are successful . Talk about counterproductive.

History has proven this type of spending to be a total failure in reversing or even stopping a recession or a Depression but instead will serve to enable one.

$100K to convert an electric hybrid to an electric hybrid? WTF? Does anyone actually read this stuff before submitting it?

$17,200,000 to improve 3 blocks of a bike path? You've got to be kidding me!!!

Do you know what a trillion dollars looks like? Try this...if one million dollars makes a 4 inch stack, using $1,000 bills, then one trillion dollars would make a stack 63.13 miles high! Rather amazing isn't it!?

If the population of the US is 306 million....one trillion dollars equates to $3268 per person or about $9804 per household (at 3 persons per household). Since only half the country even pay income tax... according to the IRS report for the year 2003...a one trillion dollar debt effectively means each tax paying household will bear a $19,608 burden.

But wait, our government just spent 2 trillion (bank bailout+pork and the new Stimulus bill++more pork) of our money...without asking, may I ad. So you and I have just assumed a debt of $39,216, each!!

If our government had just given us each the $39,000, we each could have bought a new car (and I probably would have) and we could have stimulated the economy more effectively...don't you think?

Who do we suppose will pay for this?
