Yesterday I spent the day at this event.

MG Shooters - Events

This was an absolute blast. For those inclined, you could should a number of machine guns. It was a little pricey though.

For example a 50 caliber machine gun cost $4.00 per round.

A mini-gun cost $100 for 1.5 seconds.

A 30 caliber machine gun was 60 cents per round.

The night fire last night was wild, tracers flying through the air, red and green (the chinese used green) aerial flares. As an added treat, they placed explosives on a glow stick which blew up when hit by a tracer.

I have to admit the night shoot made me feel a little uneasy, brought back some old images. But it was still a blast.

Ultimately all the tracers set the brush on the hill on fire.

Unfortunately the star attraction, an operating tank broke an oil cooler and was not there.

Must be nice to live in the desert. You could never do that in the congested east. Looks like a lot of fun.

They have something similar in Kentucky (or Tennessee). It was on Mail Call a while back. It looked like a very impressive event.

I believe everyone should have the right to own guns.

However, I'm scared of them...I see too many bad things happen. I don't/won't own one. One time I did shoot guns at a shooting range under careful expert supervision. I shot a 38 caliber rifle, then a 357, then a 44 magnum. I took only one shot with that 44, and my wrist hurt for a week.

I have no desire to ever shoot a gun again, but if somehow, somewhere, I was in a situation where I could use one to save someone's life and the gun happened to be there...I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Reminds me of the "Fire power " demonstrations I attended while in the Army out in hills of Hawaii (1973).

They started out with a 45 cal side arm , M16 fully automatic ,M60 machine gun , grenade launcher , L A W (anti tank weapon )and so on up to a 155 howitzer artillery, etc.

The Vulcan Tank minniegun (2000 rounds / min) completely destroyed a truck down range.The barrell's just hummed as they were spinning while the occasional live tracer rounds lookes like a laser beam.

Finished off with a Cobra gunship shooting air to ground missiles and front turret mounted mini guns which also destroyed an old tank.

Very impressive thing to see. I'm sure there are much better weapons at their disposal today.

If you ever get a chance to wittness a military fire power demonstration don't miss it. (unless it's aimed at you )

Even if it is aimed at you, you should watch since you'll probably never be able to see it again.

The wife has fired a Desert Eagle several times. Funny, she married the Boston boy who was raised not to shoot a gun, so I don't really know what it is, but I understand it to be a big rifle.
