I went into hyperventilation mode when the nurse laid out the Vaseline and the vinyl gloves on the counter before the doctor came in; luckily he hates being the doer as much as I hate being the doee.......we had an unspoken mutual agreement that we would just ignore that stuff on the counter.....

..right now I really don't feel like there is anything wrong with me; that is the problem with blood fats and sugar issues, they sneak up on you after years of damage.

Bill, at some point at least get screened for the blood test stuff........if you can deal with this stuff when you are younger, it is so much easier and effective.......why take a chance. I am now pushing on my oldest boy to get looked over, he is only 23 but both grandfathers died young, 62 and 52.

I agree on the need for regular check ups. That's how my Melanoma Cancer was found...by a regular doctor at a routine physical. I had a physical at 40. then one at 45.

At 45 they found the Melanoma cancer on my face and it was at stage 2. I kick myself in the ass for not going in for a yearly check up because I know they would of found the cancer when I was 41 or 42 and minamal surgery would of been needed.

My doc has wanted to see me every 6 months now for the last 2 years. I obey him now.

Once you get yourself in shape you will not only feel better inside, but you will live longer. Heres the progress I have made in the last 13 weeks.

9/26/08 - 188 pounds & 28.8% Body Fat
10/5/08 - 184 Pounds
10/12/08 - 184 pounds
10/19/08 - 179 pounds
10/26/08 - 176 pounds
11/2/08 - 174 pounds
11/9/08 - 173 pounds
11/16/08 - 172 pounds
11/23/08 - 172.2 pounds & 23.3% Body Fat
11/30/08 - 169.6 pounds & 22.6% Body Fat
12/7/08 - 169.0 pounds & 22.7% Body Fat
12/14/08 - 171.0 pounds & 22.9% body Fat
12/21/08 - 168.6 pounds & 22.7% body Fat

that is good steady progress, the way weight needs to come off. For me, the first 40 to 50 pounds will actually be quite easy, since when you are very heavy, exercise and your normal calorie needs are high. But as you approach your normal/healthy weight, it becomes very difficult to maintain progress. That is why your weight loss is fantastic. Now, I will never be that light, but for me, 190 at 5'10" will be a major win........

I have to go in this year since I'm turning 50. I'm not looking forward to it!

One of the things that has helped me, is that I am doing this with 9 other guys at work. The 10 of us have commited to tracking our progress together untill Feb 4th.

We have some money involved as well. We each put in $5 bucks a week. We each weigh in every Wed. and pay and every month the one with the most progress for that month of Body fat lost wins $125 bucks. On Feb 4th the last $125 bucks will be given away for the Jan. winner. Also given away on Feb 4th will be the big pay out of $500 dollars for the person that lost the most percentage of their starting Body fat.

This is not alot of money...but it has sparked the drive in me to not only start the program...but keep at it.

BTW...I won the Oct and Nov prize ($250).

I'm not going to win the Dec. prize because I don't have much fat left to lose, but I am on track to win the over all. I'm in the lead by 9% Body fat lost.

We are using a special Body fat scale to track this. I have the same scale at home too.

I must say - your thread has made me think about re-starting my plan. I don't diet well - but I do pretty well with exercise. I've lost a bunch before, only to have it slowly come back.

Maybe you and I need to do this together and motivate each other.

If you want t get an edge on Joegie maybe you could try hitting the gym a little. Just an idea. I found it does cut into your posting time.
