political Science for Dummies
DEMOCRAT You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful. You push for higher taxes so the government can provide cows for everyone. REPUBLICAN You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So? SOCIALIST You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow. COMMUNIST You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it. It is expensive and sour. CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows. BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain. AMERICAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one. You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You sp in an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses. Your stock goes up. FRENCH CORPORATION You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows. You go to lunch and drink wine. Life is good. JAPANESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. They learn to travel. Most are at the top of their class at cow school. GERMAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year. ITALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch. Life is good. RUSSIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You have some vodka. You count them and learn you have five cows. You have some more vodka. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have. TALI BA N CORPORATION You have all the cows in Afghanistan , which are two. You don't milk them because you cannot touch any creature's private parts. You get a $40 million grant from the US government to find alternatives to milk production but use the money to buy weapons. IRAQI CORPORATION You have two cows. They go into hiding. They send radio tapes of their mooing. POLISH CORPORATION You have two bulls. Employees are regularly maimed and killed attempting to milk them. BELGIAN CORPORATION You have one cow. The cow is schizophrenic. Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish. The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow. The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk. The cow asks permission to be cut in half. The cow dies happy. FLORIDA CORPORATION You have a black cow and a brown cow. Everyone votes for the best looking one. Some of the people who actually like the brown one best accidentally vote for the black one. Some people vote for both. Some people vote for neither. Some people can't figure out how to vote at all. Finally, a bunch of guys from out-of-state tell you which one you think is the best-looking cow. CALIFORNIA CORPORATION You have millions of cows. They make real California cheese. Only five speak English. Most are illegal. Arnold likes the ones with the big udders

Look on the bright side...Presidents NEVER keep their campaign promises. We can only hope.

at 11pm est last night I watched in horror as the park and cameras focused in on people celebrating. I watched as news media who previously lied and said its not a black white thing suddenly embraced that it was and that the black vote came out and spoke up....I watched some of that youth expressing themselves black, white, chinese and it truly made a knot in my stoumach that worried me....I watched melodramatic people drop to their knees and cry at him winning...I watched many news stations show old photos of slavery and racism and symbolized this election as an end to that...I am reminded of those people at a local theme park with the shirts about the white house and we gonna paint this bitch black...I realized as I have billions of times in the past that ignorance does not choose race, yet people choose to be ignorant. I woke up this morning and my 10 year old son asks me who won the presidency Dad...I told him..he was disappointed for reasons that he probably does not truly understand...however it made me fell happy and sad all over again...happy that my 10 year old son is interested enough to ask about it...but sad that he will watch the next 4 years through easily moldable eyes and his views will be tainted by what happens...I hope that this president knows what he got into...I hope he knows what is truly on the table....I hope that this unproven rookie, knows and has what it takes to make tough decisions and lead this great nation over the next 4 years...I hope he realizes that his legacy will have to evolve to more than a bi-racial person being elected as president and into a leader who has to take this country into the next 4 years with more issues than should we just bail out this bank or get out of this country. I hope this president realizes that everything he spoke about and hoped for is here and his...we know that the media will protect him over the next year at least..we know that every short coming that he faces will be covered up and brushed off as W.Bush fault and that it will take more than 1 year and 1 person to fix it...we know this...but is this rookie ready to face the fact that everyone that supported him is expecting more than what he has said...more than his empty promises...more than his swagger and knuckle bumping...no this group of sheep that followed him and supported him...they are expecting him to deliver today...they are expecting him to take everything that is remotely the sign of capitalism and crush it...some of his sheep would expect to see a check in the mail tomorrow...some would expect to see their fair share of our hard earned $$ in their pockets....some would expect him to go up there and not unite this country yet rather (as he did in his acceptance speech last night) tell everyone that he is not Bi-racial, but that he is african american and its their turn now...now I know this sounds racist and believe me when I say this, I am as far from a racist as you can be....but I see a society that has turned on itself and I truly do not see this novice ...this rookie really truly understand what he is in for....he has to do more than just take Oprah Winfreys money and run for office....he is in that office...he is the leader of the free world....the questions I have now for all the Obama supporters is the same one I had before he won....is your candidate ready to truly lead this nation...I have seen this before in the corporate world....it happens everyday...someone gets a job because of how he / she spoke and how they interviewed...then they got the job and just could not do it....most have failed horribly...some were smart enough to surround themselves with talent and done decent....but we are talking the leader of our country...he cant just do decent....well as an american I support our president....as an american I will disagree with my president....I just hope and pray that the next 4 years are not more of the same partisan BS....I hope that racism truly is not put even further to the forefront....I hope that our president knows that this is not just about proving a point and winning an election...this is about taking a country and keeping it safe, protecting our rights........God Bless America....

I don't want to bring everyone down even more, but think about this...
Bill Clinton's first year as President: 1st WTC Bombing George Bush's first year as President: 9/11 Obama's first year as President: ??? Don't know about you, but I'm a bit concerned. Al Qaeda obviously likes making big statements to new Presidents.

+1....not saying it could not happen...but it is allot tougher for those idiots to mess with us...now do I think we can possibly see some sort of unfortunate domestic terrorism....that is more my fear with current president elect. i just think that as much as people praise him that he is a healer..I dont see it that way...I hope for all of our sake and my childrens sake that I am 100% wrong...I truly pray that our new president elect is as good as he believes he is in his own mind...

2nd, I'm willing to give the Dems the benefit of the doubt regarding all this talk about "bringing the country together", but the first time they try to ramrod some legislation by using their power, all bets are off. 3rd - I have written to my Congressmen and asked them to introduct legislation whereby Congress can only vote for pay raises for themselves during a 3-month period before the elections in which a majority of them have terms coming due. I know that won't go anywhere...but if we all demanded it by voting them out (which did not happen yesterday), then we'd have a chance. They vote themselves huge pay raises each time, and always hide the votes in a non-election year. 4th - we should stop talking about the deficit and start talking about the debt. 5th - The next time a politician says the Social Security Trust Fund money really exists, I'll demand $1M from them and give them a hand-written IOU...which is exactly what they've done with it...it's been spent already even though they lie about that. 6th - I'm ashamed of most of our politicians...both parties. The bickering, deceit, extravagant spending, excessive perquisites, bribery, pandering, and all the other garbage is rediculous. 7th - I'm embarrassed how easily they blow with the wind. Remember how 5 months ago it was all about getting us out of Iraq? When was the last time you heard how important that is? They simply look at the polls and see where they can talk the most to get elected, and that's what they do. I say fix the following in order, and quit screwing around:1) Medicare - a bigger issue than SS 1.5) Energy policy...do it by incentivizing the private sector 2) Social Security 3) Federal debt 4) Improve our international relations -- Find out why so many people hate us and fix it 5) Immigration reform (Although most of the time I'm on the Republican side...I happen to think more like a Dem on this issue) 6) Health care reform - and do NOT allow the government to run it 7) Term limits for Senators/House members. 6 years max. We need fresh ideas....and Ted Kennedy doesn't have any. Ok, now, can you tell how I really feel?

I think he'll try...but we've seen before how tough it is to make big changes. Look at both parties...George Bush could not get privatization of SS, and Hillary could not get health care reformed.

Good piece of news..........we had our quarterly employee meeting to officially hear how dire times are (that's the bad news). Good news......there won't be any job losses like other funds/brokers have had.

...at the current time, once Obama takes office, the filibuster is the only legislative process available to keep laws/regulations from being forced through quickly without discussion and true transparency. Without the filibuster, I would be truly afraid for our country right now. Look at the house and senate leadership, would you really want them to get exactly what they want without us really knowing the impacts??? I want legislation to proceed cautiously, in a manner that includes discussion and understanding of what is in the bill (and who will benefit from the less obvious parts). Without this, you have a straight and direct path to absolute corruption.
