I thought acorns stayed pretty fresh as long as they were still in the shell?
Or are you taking about the Acorn pies, Acorn cacciatore, Acorn Parmesan, Acorn salad and Acorn ice cream? .

I went for an eye exam and to pick out new glasses this morning (insurance pays for us to do it every other year).
This time he dialated my pupils.... OMG, I look like I'm stoned, everything is blurry, and I'm wearing these stupid looking tinted shades that clip onto my glasses, in my office, with all the lights off, and everything still seems too bright. ![]() I think I need to lay down for a while... -

That reminds me of a joke:
A blind guy and his dog walk into a store. The guy picke his dog up by the tail and swings him around and around. The clerk comes up to him and asks May I help you? The blind guy says no, just looking around!

Tried to help out a local GT500 owner tonight... didn't go so well.
Met him over at Michelle's site (spokentorque.com) - BanditSRT. Nice guy. He got a white/blue stripe coupe earlier this year and is starting to mod it. Saw my post on how I did the Stage 2 (JLT, tune, 2.6 pulley) myself and asked if I'd help. No problem! He came over a little after 3pm (my eyes were still a little dialated... LOL!) but we got right to it. Problem one - stupid stud on the passenger side valve cover that caused me problems was a PITA again. Didn't have a deep well socket that would fit, and vice-grips wouldn't turn it. Finally broke down and went to Napa to get a deep well socket set that DID fit. About 30 minutes wasted - not including the trip to Napa. Here's the stupid stud: ![]() Then, Joe creates problem #2 - I wasn't paying attention and I dropped a spark plug in upside down. 15 minutes before wifey comes up with the solution - make an "L" out of a paper clip and tape it to a screwdriver so I could hook the plug. Hopefully that's it.... right?!? Rest of the plugs went in without a hitch (double checked the spark gap). JLT intake went on without a hitch - great fit, plenty of clearance under the strut bar. Ok - time to take off the old pulley. Bandit borrowed one from another member on TS. It didn't come with instructions - and my memory was foggy on the exact locations of all the nuts and washers so I called Birdman and he faxed over his instruction sheet - THANKS GEORGE!! Crisis averted! Oops.... Bandit didn't bring the correct size wrenches to turn the nuts to pull the pulley off. Quick trip to Menards and we got them. With 2 guys working together, the old pulley came off no problem. Light at the end of the tunnel, right?? Ahhhh... maybe not. Put the new Metco hub into the oven. Pulled it out when it was hot. Started to push on the new hub. Going good. 1/4 on. 1/2 on. 3/4 on. Again, 2 guys working together should be easy, right?? Well - about 1/8" more to go... SNAP! We broke off the little stud that screws into the end of the hub. %&$@*!!!! I swear we did everything right. I was holding the main nut so that it didn't twist. Bandit was turning the nut which pushes on the Metco hub. I don't know how we did it, but we did it. Poor Bandit lives on the complete opposite end of town. His GT500 is stuck in my driveway. It's getting late (past 8pm now) - he has to break down and call his wifey. ![]() She was great and came right over with his son. He has a SRT Magnum which has a LOT of work done to it... I could hear it coming a block away! All black. It was a beauty. I gave him the #'s of 2 speed shops that other guys have used so he'll call them tomorrow morning and have his insurance tow it to the one that can take out the broken stud and push on the Metco hub the rest of the way. Luckily he just upgraded his insurance policy with a free towing service... that'll save him some big bucks. I felt really bad after it was all done. But I now have a white GT500 in my driveway! :sSig_wootwoot:

Joe, I know this is going to sound like I think you're an idiot.....but I'll ask anyway.
Did you try removing the broken stud with just your finger? In other words, push with your finger on it and spin it out? The reason I ask is that many years ago I did something similar with a crank bolt after rebuilding an engine. I was about in tears when my dad came home. He said "let me look at it", and proceeded to simply back it out....it was extremely loose. If not, then I next thing I've done is to somehow carefully grind a small slot in the end of the stud, then use a screwdriver to remove it. I know it's not easy to grind...it depends on how far the broken end is recessed. Good luck, sorry you had such a rough time with it. Dave

A small, shaped explosive charge should get it out pretty quickly.

He had it flatbed truck towed (luckily he had the free towing service added to his insurance) to a local speed shop. They got the stud out (just used one of those reverse drill out tools) and then pushed the new hub on the rest of the way. He's happy and I'm releaved it wasn't too bad to fix. Live and learn I guess. At least it wasn't me! ![]() -
