Went to the Ford dealer that sponsors the local SVTOA club for our monthly meeting.

Saw 2 2008 GT500 verts on the showroom floor - Alloy/silver stripe & Vapor/black stripe.

This dealer has always held out for high ADM's. They had a 07 on the floor this summer that *still* had a $10k ADM on it.

Now?

I guess business is really down, because the 08 Verts had $1000 UNDER MSRP stickers on them - and I heard a salesman talk to a guy on the floor that "we may drop those prices soon if they don't move quick."

I've been thinking about this since last week and it's really got to me.



Last Tuesday night I went to get my haircut before going to KC.

After waiting about 10 minutes I was next up. The cute stylist was quiet in the beginning, then started crying. I thought, "WTF? I'm not that ugly! " I asked what was the matter so she told me.

The guy she worked on right before me was drunk. Everytime he spoke she could smell the strong alcohol breath and he was slurring his words a little. She thinks he was at the sports bar that is right next door while waiting for his turn in line (there was a longer wait before I got there).

Being drunk, and probably driving home, was bad enough. But this guy (probably late 30's) also had his 8-9 year old son with him.

She was worried about them getting home ok, but said she didn't like to "get involved".

I asked why she didn't do one of 2 things:
- while he was there, excuse herself and tell one of the other gals to call the cops (the station is only about a mile away). or
- watch what car he got into, get the license number, and call the cops

I was sick that entire night thinking about this.

I'm not perfect, but I've never drank more than one beer when I'm with my kids. I just won't risk it.

Joe, you are right. The fact that it bothered her enough to make her cry indicates she had a "moral moment" and should have done something.

I know the feeling about not getting involved. It happened to me 2 weeks ago in the grocery store when a parent was "manhandling" her ~2 year old. Pulling them away from the candy was one thing...but the next 3 times it got progressively worse. I walked up to her, showed her my cell phone, and whispered "one more time and I'm calling the police". It stopped immediately.

It's one thing when it's happening to an adult who can defend themself...but when it's a child, I think we have to get involved sometimes.

Oh man I'd be horrible in politics. I'd kick reporters in the shins, tell the entire population they'd have to cut back so we can get the debt (not the deficit....but the debt) to zero, and in the House and Senate I'd make everyone alternate seats (one Republican, then one Democrat) so we'd be forced to work together.

I'd also bring diet lemonade in to drink.
