Default MrFarmdog swaps vert rear springs for coup springs

I have a friend with a couple of 40th cars and he gave me all his suspension leftovers. I have been running with MT 45 series tires which are TALL and as a result my a$$ end was way up in the air. So far that it made it difficult to see out of the rear view mirror. I compared the vert springs and the coupe springs and there was about a 2 inch difference in the height, the coupe springs are a little bigger diameter than the material used on the vert springs as well. I pulled the vert springs and replaced with the coupe springs and it lowered by rear end down about an inch and a half! The stance is much better now! Sorry no pics of the install but I did want to share. This was a freebie mod that helped fix a real annoying problem with my car!

Do the production verts sit higher in the back than the coupes? Is there that much of a weight difference to warrant that much difference in the springs?

I think there is about a 250 lb difference in the cars. However the weight is only part of the reason. I think the rest is the ride quality. Verts are intended to be more cruisers than the coupes.

Did you take the car out and test out the handling and ride quality? How did go?

John,
By swapping out the rear springs with the coupe springs did the rear end move over or is it still centered?

And what about the pinion angle? Do you have an adjustable UCA?

John, We need an Update!
Its been 2 months since you changed the springs.
How are they working out for you?
Are you happy with them?
Did the car settle out any more than the original 1-1/2?

I was parked next to him last week and because he has much taller tires you can't see a difference in ride height. However the gap between the fender and tire is obviously less on his car than on mine. I'm hoping to get a set of rear coupe springs cheap and try this. Unfortunately these things are heavy so by the time you figure shipping, the people I have talked to so far were asking almost as much for as a full set of new FRPP springs for their used rear springs. If I find someone local I'll try this swap and get some pics posted with stock tires.

Sorry guys for the delay in updates. Been super busy. I really can not tell a difference in ride height and do not feel that it has settled down any more than the inch or so drop I originally got. I think this is a cheap way to drop the rear on verts and am very happy with the result.
