I'm only changing out since I'm putting on the slotted/crossdrilled rotors (since they already have the car in the air.....). 11k miles, I shouldn't need new ones, but always a good idea when putting on new rotors I've heard.

my parts management department highly recommends I be very selective on what goes acrossed her desk for approval. No way on Gods green earth I could replace a rotor and break pad that wasn't used up.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Porterfield pads. I would like to get those some day so a simple drive around the block doesn't turn into a complete coating of all four rims and the entire back of the vehicle with break dust.

I had porterfield and had no issues. Wnt to Mintex and have no issues. I feel like both are better on the brake dust than stock. Both stop about the same. I have not had any long enough to wear them out as this is my 3rd set in 12K miles....kinda like plugs I change em every year

Ford prices may be high, but for an otherwise stock set up, I would only use OEM pads. I have family in the friction material biz, and I know what goes into testing the material for each vehicle. I have to say one area I do not think the OEM cheapens up on is braking material. Just my .02. After all, if you can't stop the car, all you have is a sled!

Why are Ford brakes so bad with the dust? I have noticed when driving around that almost every Ford vehicle has the most brake dust. I was going to wait till I need them....but just cannot wait anymore. Iceman.....can you give a little review between the the Porterfields and the Mintex. They seem to be the 2 best choices from reading all different posts. Do you prefer one over the other? Pro and cons for each if any? (dust, wear, performance). For me....performance and dust free are more important than wear. I do not mind buying brakes more often if they do not have the terrible dust and are good performers. Thanks alot in advance for any info you or anybody else that has both types can provide. Dennis

I too have been using the Porterfield pads and I'm happy with them . About 75% less dust and the same stopping power as the OEM ones both on and off the track.
