Need some pronto advice please

Now that's what I'm talking about. I'm assuming the R-4S is the best for street use and the R-4 is the higher performance racing compound. I like it. And it has the right name in it........Porter. Excellent. It must be a great product. I think my order will be in shortly and I'll just have to either put off the install of the rotors or have them install the rotors and then put the pads in when I get them (any problems with this by the way??)

I personally wouldn't put the old pads on the new rotors.

Also when I ordered the pads I would look at ordering the SS brake line upgrade. Makes a nice different in pedal feel.

Iceman.....can you give a little review between the the Porterfields and the Mintex. They seem to be the 2 best choices from reading all different posts. Do you prefer one over the other? Pro and cons for each if any? (dust, wear, performance).

For me....performance and dust free are more important than wear. I do not mind buying brakes more often if they do not have the terrible dust and are good performers.

Thanks alot in advance for any info you or anybody else that has both types can provide.

It is not just Ford vehicles with brake dust issues, all OEM pads for the most part create more dust than many after market pads. It has to do with the "feel", "stopping power", "life of", and "brake setup" the OEM chooses. Most pads are designed to give before the rotors, thus the material composite is soft enough to give and wear, before the metal rotors, thus saving cost, giving a good feel, and provide maximum stopping. The material used (since they can not sure asbestos) has less metallic compounds and more wear is caused, thus the dust. You can get aftermarket pads with more metallic compound, will wear less quick, but will surely increase stopping distance and cause more wear to the rotors. Really is personal feel, cost, and what you prefer to give first. As an OEM, they choose as stated above.
