Default GT500 Coil Cover Warranty Replacement
My dealer came through today with my coil cover replacements.








Pics of the screwed up bubbling ones can be found here:

JT's FRPP Throttle Body Install

They're aluminum so I decided to let a friend chrome them instead of going to the powder coating route. Basically, the raised potions of the cover will be bright Chrome where the base of the cover will be Matt Chrome for contrast.

They should look pretty cool.

The defective ones are still on the car until the swap Tuesday.

Think your friend can do something in black chrome?? I have my replacement ones and have been dragging my feet in getting them powdercoated......

so I am going to look at mine tomorrow.how hard is it to get the dealer to order replacement ones. Did you all bring your car to dealer or just show them pics.. I would almost want it to be there to get an extra set to have powdercoated

had them look at them while they were doing the TSB.......the service advisor even gasped at how bad they looked. I'm hoping they'll let me keep the stock ones.........then I can have a backup set maybe for a collage or something....

Not meaning to interrupt your technical thread: as a future owner I am gathering as much info on possible problem areas depending on the model I ultimately purchase. When I read things like Service managers gasping and TSB etc, it get's my attention. Would any of you care to elaborate a reader's digest version on this problem for a novice like me?

Basically, the original coil covers weren't as pretty as they should be. Whatever they used to coat them with, didn't last, it started bubbling. Hence the gasp.

Most people would think, oh what the heck, its under the hood, but when you have a show car, each and every little imperfection means something to an owner.

Has the problem been corrected on newer models? Which current models are affected?

not all of us have had this issue yet. I don't know if it's year of vehicle exclusive mine is an 08 in hot fla and I have not noticed it yet...

thanks for the info...I am wondering if maybe it was a batch or lot of covers that are the questionable ones. I don't know if the stock ones are all manufactered by one vendor or if there are several venders and one vender with the problem ones.
Venders providing non conforming material and parts is a constant problem in the aviation industry, just curious.
