Default Valve Covers

Has any one been brave enough to have their valve covers powder coated Ford GT Blue like this?
I have looked into to the cost ... about $45 / pair vs $375 to purchase a new set.

I didn't know it was that cheap to get a new powdercoat job. Personally, I love the blue look and eventually plan to go that route. That's a good way to go if it is quality and holds up as good as an new OEM set would.

The only downside is your car will be down for a while.

My car doesn't get driven a lot. it is common for it to sit for a month easy. I can include the powder coat while doing mods up front. I plan to install the SHELY Radiator and Dual Pass H/E after the summer. That would be a good time to have it done

I thought about that... I was hoping to get a new one, taking it off will risk damaging it. Not sure it could be masked off for the coating

I saw them on a red GT500, they looked sweet. That Ford Racing blue is a classic. You car already has the Vista blue theme, I wouldn't change that, it looks great.

Default Re: Valve Covers

Pulling the valve covers on these cars is a pain in the butt project - looks so easy up front but especially the drivers side, you either end up lowering the motor or pulling the intake, power steering reservoir, brake master cylinder (which means a full system bleed is in order) and booster, the A/C part next to the master cylinder, depending on the supercharger you have, you may need to pull that off also.... passenger side you just need to pull the battery and move some wire looms out of the way -

With that said, changing to either a powder coated or polished option really dresses up the motor and really lets you see just how big the motor is in the engine bay....would I do it again? Sure
