I love that engine.

That's a lopey cam profile, no? I see you also switched to the 351 firing order too. Very nice.

Not too lopey, higher lift, shorter duration. It is supposed to maintain a good amount of vacuum so the power disc brakes will function without the need for an electric booster.

That cam's pretty hot. Love those rockers too! Carnut, any pic of the combustion chamber? Was wondering if it's a 'heart' style chamber? Fun days ahead!

Sorry Dan I don't and I don't remember. They are AFR #1400 185 heads. They are supposed to yeild 10 to 1 compression ratio with flat top pistons. The flow on them is about 280 intake / 180 exhaust. Intake valve sze is 2.02.

They have had just a little clean up on the flow bench.

This is supposed to be a street motor.

Those are the ones exactly. Didn't want to get too big for the street.

Looks nice Carnut. I've been working on a similar project with my 1968 Mustang.
No 347 stroker, but a 302 with Hi lift cam, forged pistons. punched out .030.
Carter AFB, Edelbrock Torker 2, with Rhodes lifters. Cam has 290 duration so manifold vacuum needed improvement. The Rhodes lifters helped with that. Backed mine up with T-5 5spd. You're correct, the 68 engine bay is a bit larger for those big blocks that were available.
I actually have a 429PI in the garage (see photo w/ 429 on stand)that will be transplanted in the near future.
Runs good at the track, but need a 9'' rear housing, so I can run a truetrac Diff and bolt on slicks. Give most folks a run for the money at the local dragstrip, but the rear gear and loack of a posi cause alot of breaking loose issues. The new rear and slicks should help that.
What about the rear housing in your...what plans do you have for that.

AOD good choice....a local guy here has an old falcon with hopped up motor and runs 4.11 with an AOD. He staes this is the way to go.

I am running a 9 inch Ford with posi and 4:10 gears and 31 spline axles. Also sporting a set of drag radials. Should hook some.

Thats the stuff !! This is what I'm after next.....If only I can leave the GT500alone, I'd have more time and money to get the rear housing organized.
While at the track with mine, the issue of hooking up is the biggest problem.
