Sort of makes sense when you think about it. All they need to do is disconnect the linkage to drop the trans. The shifter can just hang there.

Just seems a little petty to me, the tranny and linkage is dropped and it would take them a nanosecond to do the install and they are probably making a couple of grand from Ford for the job.

Oh, yea that I agree with. Matter of fact I so much as told them itr would take all of about 10 minutes so glad to pay if they labors them to much. I am hoping if I buy the part there, they will see it my way LOL.

that sucks...i just asked my tech to swap them..he said no problem..and no charge. but i bought him a 12 pack anyway..most dealers just do it...it does seem petty. was that from the tech or service mgr...tech's dont really care either way...

Same here - no charge for the installation of the shifter during TSB. It's just one bolt and 2 clips that attach it to the tranny. I didn't even purchase the shifter from my dealer; I had it in a box sitting in the trunk. I gave them the receipt and they entered the info into Ford's system for warranty purposes.

Good luck to you both. Still enjoying mine.......pedal pressure is definitely a lot lighter (i.e. less effort to put down) than before). Just a reminder, so when you get in it for the first time after TSB, you won't put your foot through the floor!!!!

Got a call from the dealer today basically telling me they are waiting for a few parts to arrive before they get started. My car is one of three currently in for the TSB, two coupes and a Vert. It is important to note that all of us that have our 500s in there now for this TSB, have a relationship with the Owners of the dealer through various business and sponsorship relationships and even our cars had to be fully scrutinized, no free pass for this TSB anymore. The only latitude we got is with our mods as Ford relies on dealer feedback for a summary of your mods, so in my case, the only info offered was my FRPP CAI as Ford new about that anyway, as I have their tune. That said, I don't know how any of my Mods would disqualify me anyway, but I wasn't going to take an chances. My car is actually still completely assembled and I may pick it up for the weekend if I wish if the parts don't show by Friday. It is a Long Weekend up here this weekend.

Further, my car and all the others had to be inspected and scrutinized before by the Service Manager and a lead tech before Ford would authorize the TSB repair so it is completely clear that this new, edited Tranny TSB is meant to add some layers and make getting it more difficult to get. There was even a separate work order opened for the inspection and billed to Ford as Warranty Claim Inspection. The Tranny TSB is still easier to get than Oprah's Free Chicken, but not much.

Two days in, parts on order, stay tuned.

It really does depend on your dealer but it's BS. I can tell you from experience. My Shelby that I race was the FIRST one to get it. I've been through 3 clutches, shifters and 2 tranny's. It's a story of it's own.

FYI everyone....from my little birdies mouth to you and this IS a VERY reliable source ALL of them with a man. date before MARCH of 09 is in need of the TSB. Even the KR's. The KR's only need a part of it though...and possibly a hand full of the Shelby's. If you have any questions you can call Wes and he can fill you in more.

see..i knew it..more ppl are gonna get royaly screwed by this edited version. total bullsh!t! mods have not a freakin thing to do with it....this is one way i see how ford is saving cash...at our expense...i feel sick for those that have modded and haven't experienced the need yet...

dont doubt that at all...problem is there are many not driving their cars enough to even get symptoms and when they do..its outta pocket cause warranty period would have passed..then there are the modders..this frustrates me to no end...

You're completely correct MC, the fine tooth is out for this one and anyone that doesn't have a friend or family member at dealer or anybody a bit green about managing the dealer relationship or navigating the process is going to hit the wall and the that's what the Blue Oval wants. If GT500 Girl is correct with her info about the March 09 date instead of the AUG 08 date we all thought was the cut off, I estimate Ford's exposure for all the repair cost to bloom from $80 Million to $120 Million! Wow!

No wonder they are trying to sell some stock.

Yep..no doubt about that. I had problems with less than 50 miles on the car and they test drove it and said everything was fine. Yeh...it was all fine cause they didn't have a clue about these cars at that time. I'm not sure of the man date on my car...it is number 6 hundred something...I've had it in my possession since I think September of 06. They stopped production of these cars 3 times in the first 1500 because of these problems. Anyways they knew there was a problem and they still put them out. They tried to pull my warranty because of my mods and not warranty the clutch issue. The mechanic that did mine took pics of me at the track...then when SVT actually flew in and installed it themselves the mechanic argued with them. Then he gave me some kind of BS about breaking in the new clutch for 500 miles. SVT said take it to the track tonight if you want. End of story. It lasted and was good until my auto went in but it still needed something done to it because there was one more thing they had to change to get it right. Anyways...doesn't matter. It is what it is and they knew we would take it to the ends of earth if they did not deal with this matter. They know this is a problem and they need to deal with it in my opinion. Production should have been stopped until it was fully tested.

that infuriates me even more....guess they didnt want to have to explain the loss 20m in marketing expense if they stopped to fix, and rolled out months later. better to get them (us) while hungry rather than say..wait..we have a problem, and possibly we think twice about getting one..ah..get em on the street, we'll fix it (them..meaning us) later mentality. im fortunate enough to get the new tranny last year, but i feel for those with ticking time bombs..

They also had dealers hungry for the first vehicle since the T-Bird they could sell for overlist especially in 07.

Yep...it's crazy isn't it? Tremec is the one who told us about having to stop production in the first 1500 so we had some firing power when we directly contacted SVT. SVT was really stand up though and took care of things immediately. It was Ford who was being the pain. We have friends here that we met after the fact that had to pay for theirs. They are trying to get a refund since they put the TSB out afterwards.

By the way if you are close enough and can come to the Grand Opening that Wes posted up you can really learn a lot about it then.
