Speedo versus DS

Just curious if by changing the DS, it affects your speedo..

I know such other items do, like tires and gearing, but what about DS's?

How do you test the speedo for accuracy? Dyno?

I would think not
the connection from tranny to dif is unchanged. The only thing is your turning less mass so you will get to speed faster

No difference.

If you know the tire circumfrence , rear axle ratio and put this info into the car's computer it will automatically calculate it. You would need access to a tuner though.

To check accuracy you could make a mark on the tire ( while on the vehicle)and count the revolutions it makes rolling on a predetermined distance marked on a level surface. then do the math .

Didn't realize you still had the 331's...interesting , at least you will get the best gas milage.

Gr8Snk, take a drive down 17 to Eliz City. On the way the road is marked every 2/10th of a mile. You can check your speedo using distance. Pretty cool.

Much easier way to check a speedo for accuracy is with a GPS unit. Most have a speedo screen. That's how I found out my custom tune was set for the wrong rear end ratio.

i use it in my truck..and see that the truck is runnin 3mph faster. i was going to do this to the car this week...but rain is emmiment...maybe next week.

Curious, cause i got pulled comin home from DS's car monday. NC state boy. He gave me a warning, but never would tell me how fast i was going. Little did he know i was on cruise control at 60..gaging gas consumption. But he said i was passing others pretty darn fast. He was cool about it, but just wouldnt say..asked me the last time i had a citation...umm...20 or 30 years ago officer...

well i actually drove the car to my brothers yesterday and used my nav...turns out the state boy was right. i'm 15mph off (lower)...so i was speeding....guess i need to fix the tune...
