Note that the fill hole in the cover is higher than the fill hole at the front of the differential carrier. You just want to fill with oil to the level of the front fill hole and not the one in the cover. And don't forget the friction modifier if you continue to use the stock limited-slip.

Good point - it makes it easier to get to though and it still spills out the front if you open it so you don't over fill.

THe drain is a plus too

Royal purple = no modifier

I have been using RP in the diffs of my vehicles since 2004 except for my camaro since it gets changed twice a summer.

No - it's actually a little pricey so some chains don't carry it. I bought mine off e-bay actually then found out the 4x4 off road store has the gear oil here. I also put it in the tranny and it shifts much better (still stock tranny and clutch from an Oct. 2006 build by the way).

how are you using gear oil in a tranny that normally uses hydraulic fluid??? What weight is it?

I have seen some carry it but it's few and far between. I bought 6 qts of it for the jeep and I still have 3 qts to change the fluids in the truck.

I forgot about the HD Eaton Posi Unit in my Camaro can't run Synthetic Gear oil per Eaton/Strange Engineerings design.

They make lots of stuff - I have the manual trans fluid in the tranny and gear oil in the diff only. The gear oil comes in different weights but it is made in the weight suggested by the manual (I can't recall off the top of my head what that is).

That's the Rear axle lubricant weight recommended in the GT500 supplement.

I assume you only used the gasket that was included with the girdle. Have you encountered any leaks yet? I have seen magazine articles where the installer uses a RTV form-a-gasket instead to avoid leaks from the differential cover.
