Super Snakes Tranny TSB-Here we go...

Reading some of your alls experience has caused me to send the service manager at my dealership an email questioning if indeed all my parts were in BEFORE I have my car torn apart....I received this email below
To: Thomas James Peck

We wanted to notify you that your special order part has arrived.

SPO Number: 09167033
Part Number: 7R3Z7L596A
Description: KIT - CLUTCH REPAIR
Balance Due:

Please contact our Service Department to schedule an appointment to have your part(s) installed. Our Service Department may be contacted by phone at (813) 246-3333 or online.

If you have any questions concerning your special order, please reference the SPO number when contacting us.

which prompted me to call the service dept. he was surprised I knew the part was there before him, I then asked him if it was all the parts...he replied I believe so.. I will call the Parts dept tomorrow to make sure all other parts were ordered as well. I also sent him the email below...as I like to have a paper trail...especially since I know the owner it helps etc...

I just talked to you about coming in on Monday to have the TSB 09-9-2 done on my 08 GT500. I received an email from Brandon Parts stating that SPO number 09167033 has arrived part number 7R3Z-7L596-A Kit-Clutch Repair. I just wanted to see if you can do me a favor please, I will try calling tomorrow as well, can you please verify that all of the parts came in prior to me having my car tore down on Monday. I see in the TSB that the clutch repair kit is only part of the issue. I should also be having a flywheel kit 7R3Z-6375-B, Transmission kit 7R3Z-7C391-A, Pilot bearing F6ZZ-7600-A..etc etc. I am sure you are aware of all the parts involved. Anyways if you could please verify that all parts are there before I drop off my car on Monday, I would appreciate it very much…

Good Idea, In additon I would set some understanding of limiting them driving the car unless you are present

Yeah ...I put a white towel on my floor where I park in the garage....the first sign of any fluid I will be pissed....so far no issues....sorry to hear about yours

yeah...if you read my update..I would be surpirsed if they test drove it at all before I picked it up jeesh...the exhaust was practically falling off and you could hear it as soon as I went over the first speed bump in the dealer lot...they just fixed it today...although I still have a slight rattle once in a while when going over very rough terrain....

I have'nt looked specifically, just see the puddle of fluid on the floor and the drip hanging off near the back of the tranny. I wont be able to get her back to the shop until I finish the front end mods.

I am very AFRAID to let the dealer do anything on my GT500!! I also keep reading of all the horror stories in many forums after this tsb has been done!

Wow....it's amazing how many jobs we're seeing on our cars not done correctly by the technicians. Hope they get it fixed for you quickly....hopefully it's just a rear seal or something simple where they don't need to pull the whole trans.

I had the same thing happen to me when I had my TSB done.

Curious story around mine though.

The day after I got my car back the SM called me to make sure everything was right with the car. I told him it shifted great and there were no problems. He also told me to make sure to check for leaks. I told him I would keep an eye on it.

After he hung up I got curious and backed the car out of the garage and the tranny sure enough was leaking out of the rear seal.

I called him back and told him it was leaking and he said to bring it in the next day and they would fix it.

Here's the twist. Ati had his done at the same dealership prior to mine being done. Come to find out, they damaged his rear seal and it also leaked. They ordered the rear cartridge for his repair. It's just not buying a seal anymore, it's a $400 piece.

In the meantime Ati trades his car in and never takes his car back in for the repair. Now the dealership is stuck with a $400 part they can't send back.

I put 2+2 together and figured they damaged mine so that they could use the Cartridge they ordered for Ati and get their money.

So, I figured for my inconveinence I would hit them up for a replacement headlight that had moisture in it. (I was told this is a $300 piece).

They agreed to check it out. They ended up replacing it but told me that the reason there was moisture in it was because when Proglass installed my hood twist lock base they drilled a hole in the headlight housing.

They told me they would turn it in under warranty but if it got rejected I would have to pay for it. Haven't heard anything since.

So it was sort of a tit for tat kind of thing.

That is the price for the OEM or Steeda versions. There are other aftermarket kits out there for ~$300, but I had problems with them sealing in the housing properly. After 3 months, I had about a cup of water in my passenger side headlight housing.

Thats what i did, Since they installed the new transmission the first go around when it came to the second time I only had them install the new flywheel, clutch , concentric throw-out bearing etc. They had all the transmission parts but I asked them not to touch the transmission and they complied.

That said after all that when my factory warranty is up this Nov my transmission is coming out again and going to G'Force for a complete makeover,gears,syncros, Rem finish etc...
