I have been using Sharpies for as long as they have been around as part of my business. When they first came out they were promoted as being "permanent" and, with the exception of a few solvents, they were. The ones that are available now IN MY OPINION are not the same as the ones from a few years ago. They do not smell the same (probably something to do with the EPA or idiots "huffing") and do not last as long. I guess when/if I ever actually put mine on the dash I will leave it untouched and when it fades out either trace over it with another Sharpie or find someone adept at forgery. After all, I've got a certificate saying its authentic, right?
