okay, so I spoke with the painter. he mocked it up the way he thought it would look best and to be honest, i agree with him. process is using an etch primer and then using a tinted clearcoat. He can go darker or lighter as I'd like, but I really think this looks great. Dare I say, it almost looks alloy??? But the details parts are still black, now a glossy finished black. I think I could do the faux gas cover (the outer ring) and snake in this finish too with out looking to out of place. What do y'all think??

I really liked how it came out. I think I'm planning on doing both fender emblems, the grille snake and the shelby letters. I think the way this looks, i'll do the faux gas cover as well (the ring and the snake will have this coloring while the center ring will still be black). Had to make something good come out of a bad situation. They're also cutting out the lower JLT bezels. Not sure if I'll go with the fresh air kit or the brake ducts, but likely will be one of them at some point. Figured might as well drill them while the bumper is off the car.

Mike - I will compare the snakes you had painted to the work that is being done on the leading edge of my hood.

I am using the Shelby GT letters. Slightly smaller and not grooved.

That looks good Mike. If you don't like it so glossy, he can put a dulling agent in the clear so it won't be quite as glossy. Overall, it is a good job.

I love the glossy aspect of it. I think it makes the black inserts in the "skin" really pop more than they did stock. Also, I think the high gloss will match up with the factory clearcoat pretty well and it blends it in making it stealthy too. It really looked good when held up to the fender (iPhone picture doesn't do it any justice, so I'm not going to bother posting it). I'm ordering up the kit either tonite or tomorrow and so I should have it ready to go next week.
