Installing the MRT Hood struts

ok, not much to say.....remove bolt, place bracket, tighten bolt...hold hood....remove front hinge bolt...hold hood with one hand...loosen rear bolt...slide bracket in....replace front bolt...tighten..tighten rear bolt...repeat otherside....slide on hood shocks...skinny end towards fender to prevent bowing etc....slowly close hood to check for clearance....voila hood struts installed in less than 30 minutes by myself....found our hoods to be much lighter than my 05 gt hood for sure which made keeping it stable extremely easy...I have read where others have dropped there hood onto the windshield with the install and just cant see how someone could have made that blunder....I really love the MRT hood struts had them on my 05 gt and a very generous family member / sibling insisted to get me some....I think the words embarassing that I was still using a prop rod was even mentioned...
all went well and love the look of them..I did not take pics as 99% of you have hood struts and was not sure if they were necessary.....still say ford should have had these installed on the gt500 at least....

I think I need to get black for my car. I'll have to check out where I can get them the cheapest. I had hood struts on my 05 GT and loved them. My wifes GT has the hood struts on and they are nice to have especially at car shows.

I used the fender bracket from one of their early kits. They are very well designed and manufactured parts. Mine are bare cast aluminum; the various colors are a nice feature.

Hood struts make a welcome addition to this car.

Yea.....I have no problem with any kind of drilling, but putting holes in places where there was once none, kinda bothers me. So, a hood strut that requires no holes to be drilled sounds better to me. Just my 2 cents

I love how they hold the hood about 3 -4 inches higher than the prop rod did that and they open this light hood so easily. when I had them on my 05 gt they opened it pretty easily as well but you can really feel the support even more with the gt500 light hood...I prefer the MRT over others due to their fit and ease of install along with the big one..NO HOOD DRILLING....I would highly reccommend these to everyone...

An extra set of hands is recommended too, just to hold the hood.

I agree on a GT....not on the GT500...(although I did my 05 gt by myself as well) the hood is SO LIGHT....it is very easy to hold it and maintain with one hand...but if you dont feel secure and confident with holding the hood by yourself then by all means an extra set of hands cant hurt...

Agree on the quality and appearance of the MRT's and also on the GT500 hood being lightweight. My 9 yo daughter held mine in place but only cuz she wanted to help. I made sure I could handle it by myself before I got her in on it. Of course she can do more push-ups (real ones), pull ups or sit-ups than any boy in her 3rd grade class.
