Default Sequential turn signals

Installed the sequential turn signal harnesses from Silver Horse Racing today.

http://silverhorseracing.com/Install...structions.pdf

I bought them from JLT. http://jlttruecoldair.com/zencart/in...dex&cPath=1_40

It's a neat mod - not needed, but it's one of those things that you do because it's cool.

The instructions are simple and the parts are well labeled.

Each of the sockets are labeled so you know where they go.

There are just a few connectors that need to be removed in the trunk panel to get to the taillights.

There are 4 where you pull out the middle plastic piece, which allows you to pull out the connector.

The two other ones just have a plastic nut on it that you unscrew with your hand.

Pull out the entire tail lamp assembly, and twist out the sockets.

Put in the new ones - #1 is in the inner position, #3 the outer.

Here's the part # of the entire assembly in case anyone needs it down the road.

Reverse the directions to put the tail lamp back on and plug the connectors back in.

Works great and looks cool!

Nice write-up, Joe. Same set that I have.

Word of warning. When taking the nut off the tail light assembly on the passenger side, DO NOT drop it behind the shaker 1000 amps unless you want to add another 20 minutes to the job.

If you do happen to do this, let me know, and I can give you step-by-step directions for retrieving said nut.

The nut actually dropped behind the amps and between the body panel and the foam insulation, and slid all teh way down to the floor of the trunk. No way to get any kind of grappnig instrument down there. I had to pull the subwoofers and the amps. It was a real PITA. I felt like an idiot.

Maggie retrieval tool:

These are forgettable tools. As in I tooled down to the hardware store to buy one to retrieve a thingie, and forgot where it is. I know I have one somewhere. It would be an interesting exercise to find it. Or perhaps easier to (like I did when I needed it last about 10 years ago) buy another one.

Default Re: Sequential turn signals

Getting back to the topic at hand: Seems like everyone has one of these in their catalog, is there any difference between them? I have prices from $140. to $200., justification for the price diff? Do all of them sequence when the brake is applied?

All the ones that I have seen sequence when the turn signals, flasher and brakes are turned on. It all depends on how much profit they want to make. There are a couple of different companies out there that make them but they all basically work the same.

There are two different types, splice in and replacement. If you are good with wiring you can get the splice in type and save some money. I paid a little more for the plug-in replacement type because I am a wuss when it comes to doing anything more complicated than an oil change myself. Some companies also offer a core discount for your original wiring. I love mine by the way. It looked awesome at Bristol looking down the line at all the sequential flashers going,

I bought mine from someone who was selling theirs for about $100. It was the plug and play type. Look on E-Bay or on other forums in the classified sections and you can find a bargan.

Were yours the plug and play or splice? On my 05 GT, I bought the splice in's which wasn't too bad but I liked the plug and play ones better.
