11" OEM Rims w/ 325/40R18

Here are pictures of my car with 11" OEM rims with 325/40R18 M&H Drag Radials.

They fit really well and the taller tire gives the car a slight rake.....which I like.

I did remove the shock boots, because they were barely touching the tire, with them removed there is about a 5/8 inch clearance

There is about 1/2 inch outside clearance from the tire out to the fender.

There is no rubbing with the supension loaded or fully compressed to the bumpstops.....or during driving.....at least not yet.

However....with the suspension hanging (extended)....i.e. when lifting the vehicle by the chassis, the rims do rub on the bumpstop brackets.

On my car with the 11" rims installed....the width between the inside of the left rear rim to the inside of the right rear rim is about 1/16 of inch wider then the width from the outside of the left bumpstop bracket to the outside of the right bumpstop bracket.

I have an adjustable panhard bar and have my suspension about as centered as possible (you can never have it perfectly centered because it doesn't move in perfect linear lines when the suspension is being compressed and extended).....so it only rubs a very little bit on one side.

I am not too concerned about it during driving conditions....because I would have to either drive over a huge cavern or jump my car....neither things that I plan on doing anytime soon. Heck I drive around almost any little pothole.

Of course I will probably eventually make a slight "adjustment" to the bumpstop brackets just so that its not a problem when jacking my car by the chassis.

I hope I explained that well enough for everybody to understand.

Do you have the BMR relocation brackets on your rear diff?

I'm really interested in this on a second set of rims.

Not sure I like that the height is 28" and stock is 27", not sure what effect that has on things. Like speedo and tune.

I assume you are talking about LCA relocation brackets....I do not have them installed. I am not convinced yet that I need them.....my car sticks really good on the street and I have no wheel hop. I am going to the track for the first time tomorrow, and I will see how things go.....I may change my mind.

The M&H tire is actually 27.5" inches tall installed on my rims. I measured my original F1 285 tires and they measure about 26.5...but that is with about 9000 miles on them. There are several online calculators that will tell you the difference between different tire sizes and speedo. Its only about a 1.1 mph difference from a 27" tire, and about 2.2 mph diff from a 26.5 tire.

I do not know what tune you have....but it shouldn't affect the tune.....and alot of tunes allow you to change the tire revs to adjust for new tire size or new rear axle ratio's.

I kept my original rims with the F1's installed also. I bought an extra set of OEM rims from Blue Oval and then sent them to Weldcraft. Customer service from Blue Oval and Weldcraft were both awesome. Actually customer service at M&H tire was also awesome!

OEM means "Original Equipment Manufacture".....just means the same wheels that came with the car originally. In other words I bought an extra set of original rims and then sent them to Weldcraft Wheels to get them widened.

Did you notice a difference in how the rear sticks on launch compared to the stock tires? What did Welcraft charge for the fab.?

I just bought a new set of OEM front rims from Blue oval.

I thought about getting a second set and sending them to Weldcraft, It would be great to get them to send the new wheels directly to them, but may be an ordeal.

I would do this for the street and use what I have now for road coursing. If I do that again.




How do you think these tires would be if you got caught in a light rain? Any idea?

I surely did! These tires are very sticky and its like driving a different car! Its like doing a performance mod...its that big of a difference.

Before putting these on.....my car was really just a tire smoking machine. It was a fun tire smoking machine.....but it was impossible to really launch the car.

Just about any Drag Radial is going to give you alot more traction than the F1tires. I know alot of people like the Nitto's and Mickey Thompsons, and they all have great tires including M&H. I went with M&H because they had the right size tire that I wanted.....and I couldn't be happier.

Now because they are a soft sticky tire....they will not last as long as the F1's or even the Nitto's.......how long will they last? I have no idea...yet....but I will greatly enjoy them as long as they do.

I have no plans to use these in any rain or wet road conditions. I would suspect that these would suck on wet roads. If I ever get caught with these in the rain....I will probably pull over or drive VERY carefully!

Just wondering, I have been caught away from home in the rain 3 times in the last 2 years. I made it home before my car completely melted.

TG won't need to worry about that. If there's a chance of rain within 500 miles, he won't drive the GT500.

Everybody at my work never checks the weather channel to see if it is going to rain..........they know there is no chance of rain if I drove the Gt500 that day!

Its only been rained on twice since I have owned it.........and I washed it inside my garage both times!!

I think I have a terrible ailment! Shelbyism Mustangius! And there is no known cure!

You're not alone. I think TG's car only got rained on once or twice & Co-Pilot found him in the fetal position under his work bench both times.
