New Drag Radials

Toyo recently released a new D. O. T. approved drag radial. The prices look pretty but we all might me wondering how good these really are.

Not many good size options for us unless you are dropping to a smaller rim. I'd like to see a few more options in the 18 & 20" range but anything in the 19" range would be great.

Well, the price is right. tiredeals4less.com has the 315/35/17 for $164.24. Too bad they don't make a 315/35/18.

I bet they are seeing if these are going to sell well first. Maybe they will offer different sizes at a later date. I think these are the most popular sizes used today. I have a set of 17"x 9.5" painted stock bullet rims in my garage off my 05 Mustang GT. I was wondering if these rims would be any good to run DRs on or would the GT500 just off the tires anyway.

Assuming you are not going to use them to drive around on the street and just want a strip tire I would look at the ET Street if you are looking for a tire that is DOT approved and will hook up. It's not the radial - it's the regular one. I have some on a smaller rim (not sure what size...maybe 16 or 17 x 8") and they did pretty well. I pulled 1.62 & 1.63 60' times on them prior to getting the big slick that I broke my axel with.I'd only get the drag radials if I was going to drive around on them too - to me they are not good enough at the track to warrant the tire change unless you go to something really big like a 325/50/15...even then it's iffy.

I put Toyos on my 20" Alcoas and one of the reasons I bought them was their unbelievable warranty. Don't like them, you have 30 days to get a full refund.

As far as I know it Toyo, is the only tire manufacturer with this money back policy for high performance tires. As for my experience with mine (which to date is very limited miles) I find them sticky and quiet, very happy.

It is an unbelievable warranty. I'm sure after the first set of returned tires you'll have a problem with the second to avoid abuse.

Back in the day, JC Penney had auto centers similar to Sears and carried there own brand of glass belted redline tires. They had a great mileage warranty so I bought a set for my 65 Impala with the transplanted L-88 P3.

In two weeks I was back because the rear tires were bald and the fronts were feathering.

They replaced the tires without question, then marked all over my waranty papers (VOID MILEAGE) and suggested I not come back.

L88's never got along with tires...
