They were such fine literary posts, that TG had them re-located to the Post Hall of Fame section. Since the Hall of Fame has yet to be created, the posts are in long term storage in order to preserve their content for future generations to enjoy.

Does anyone know if it is critical where you mount the band with the sensor? I know you want the sensor on the opposite side of the valve stem and that there is a direction ( One side of the sensor is to be matched up with the outside edge of the wheel.) My question is, do you want if centered on the wheel or towards the inside or outside of the wheel?

I wouldn't think it matters unless there is a thinner area/less diameter/circumfrance (SP?)so that it doesn't slide all over I can't recall what the rims looked like but i thought the center was a bit smaller than near the edge so I used that area.

edit: the idea being to keep it from bouncing around and moving in there.

Makes sense. I'm sure it's not critical. I was just looking for any input at all.

Thanks,
John

Cool Re: Tire Pressure Sensors

I would think centered to a point so that when they are mounting the tire it would be less susceptible to being damaged.

The Sensors are available from any ford dealer. For my Alcoas I ordered the straps from a Ford 150 with 20" wheels as the ones from the stock 18" wheels will not fit.

Hope that helps.

If you try to canter the sensor on the wheel then you won't have that many wheel weights on the on the inside or outside of the wheel.
Does this make sense?

1. If you take the wheels off the GT500 and put them on the SGT you will only have to get the GT500 Sensors calibrated to work with the SGT's Computer. Not sure what the cost is on this but this may be the easiest way to do this. I am also assuming that the SGT's wheels will then go on the GT500. If so you will neeed to do the same for the GT500's Computer.

2. You can have the sensors removed from the wheels of the SGT and rebanded around the GT500 wheels using these.

Universal Mustang TPMS Sensor Mounting Band and Bracket (Set of Two) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I used these with no problems when I changed my wheels. You will also have to have the GT500 sensors removed before you can put the SGT sensors on the GT500 wheels. This process may take a bit longer but there is no recalibration needed.

Hope this helps.

thanks for tip

I think you basically hold it at the tire for a few seconds with the key in a certain position or something.
Go get your owners manual.

.
The owner's manual does not describe how to train the TPMS sensors. However, the workshop manual does. You just need to know how to navigate to the right section in order to find what you need. You can access the workshop manual from the 1st post in the link below. Then select from the index as follows:

Select 2-Chasis
Select GROUP 04 [Suspension]
Select SECTION 204-04 [Wheels and Tires]
Select DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
Select Tire Pressure Monitoring System.pdf

Enjoy!
