Finally got around to putting on my wider tires.
I had factory rims widened to 11" by Weldcraft Wheels. Weldcraft Wheels Wheel Widening Wheel Repairs Wheel Restoration Bought the sensor straps from... http://www.americanmuscle.com/universal-tpms-bands.html ![]() ![]() Put on some Nitto NT555RII 305/35ZR18's ![]() I had them mounted at a dealership I work at and learned some info I never knew before. Performance tires are marked at the high spot (heaviest point?) such as this... ![]() The tech asked me if my factory wheels were marked also? Apparently foreign car rims are marked where their high spot is also. He says this helps in mounting the tires in a way to help balance out better. Also they use a special lube that dries in a way to help the tire from spinning on the rims under extreme cases. He says that regular tire lube does not do this. The stuff he used on my rims in required when mounting tires on a Nissan GT-R. Here are the tires side by side... ![]() Sitting flat... ![]() Caps in case you wondered what they look like... ![]() ![]() I had to move my parking brake lines from the outside... ![]() To the inside... ![]() Took all of 2 minutes. ![]() Then mounted the tires... ![]() ![]() ![]() The tires sit under the lip of the fender 1/4" (Like factory) The best I can tell I have 3/8" to 1/2" clearance to the rear shock boots, which is the closest contact point. I had to slightly adjust the panhard bar to get the rear perfectly centered. Very easy. I have to train the sensors which I forgot to do earlier. Now for the good part... once the tires heated up a little (a mile or two) the tires are much much stickier than the BFG KDW's I had on. I can grab second and actually have traction at 'almost' full throttle. At 'full' throttle into second and third there is some slight spinning still, but nothing like before. Much better traction overall. ![]() ![]() .

Those look really good TG, especially how they fill up & fill out the wheel well.

How's your bumpstop bracket clearance with the suspension extended?

Remember that mine did.....and I think just about everybody else who widened to 11" has had the same problem. Mine have never hit during actual driving or drag racing...but it could if I was to drive over a big pothole or fast over a rumble strip (something I never do). But I think eventually (for peace of mind) I will modify the bracket.

It's already low enough w/ the FRPP handling kit on it. I rub the driveway if I go too fast. .

What type of modding do you think it needs? Removal? I thought they were only having probems w/ the 11.5" or when not lowered? .

11" OEM Rims w/ 325/40R18 I am in no big hurry to modify the bumpstop bracket....because I am currently not having any issues. But when I do decide to modify it....I will probably just change the angle of the bracket by cutting it, bend/repositioning it a little and re-welding it, grind it and re-paint it.

No, but supposedly when Weldcraft does the wheels they balance and true them back to zero. I forgot to tell him that. .

Thanks. My tire sits pretty high above the bumpstop bracket protrusion that I don't think it would be a problem. When I am at the track would be where most of the flex would be, but...if I drive the car properly the suspension shouldn't be moving to such extremes anyhow. I should be flowing through corners and using the cars suspension in such a way that the weight shouldn't be transferred quick enough to extend the suspension that far.Oops, I don't really know any of that stuff. ![]() .
