Default Clutch

I am concerned.

I drove red coupe 47 today. Now has 6657 miles, and is just three months shy of three years old.

The clutch.

It works perfectly.

Am I doing something wrong?

It shifts like a hot knife through butter.

How can this be?

I am with you on this one. I have ~8600 miles on mine and no hint of any clutch issue. One one side, I don't want to have the TSB done since I worry that it will only create a problem where one doesn't exist. On the other side, I'm worried if I don't do it, I'll have the issue in the future and it could be too late.

I was one of the early sufferers of the clutch/flywheel/tranny escapade, and went through it a couple times.

I honestly thought every car would be hit by it. Of course, in nature, nothing is 100%. Count yourself as lucky that it hasn't happened to your car. Knock on wood and rub an idiot's head for luck. Throw some salt over your left shoulder. Heck, play your VIN in the Powerball.

Of course, driving like a granny might play a role in the clutch holding up so long, too.

I would but they are all on the other side of the screen.

I didn't have the clutch issues either but when I was in Dearborn, I was told that it needed it so I had it done.

Default Re: Clutch

I haven't had major symptoms with mine, but I'm having it done as soon as the weather breaks here. The dealership already has all the parts and said they have no problem waiting. They just want a couple days notice before I bring it in. Bill also told me mine had the symptoms when we were in Dearborn.

This issue is like a time bomb that is waiting to go off and none of us know when it's going to blow. I just don't think any of us should have to flip the bill for this (known) defect. I still feel this should be a recall.

Default Re: Clutch

A dealer that I talked to about this very concern ordered just the clutch. I had them install it and what a difference. I think that only time will tel as to whether they all go bad. i had 7777 miles on mine. It will be 3 years old in Sept.
Power train warranty is 5 years so no need to panic yet. I dont know whether the TSB has a expiration date. Grabber may know he knows everything that TG doesn't.
