Default Any F150 truck guru's out there?

Question. Many of you know I own a 2007 F150 FX4 truck. First "truck" per say, I have ever owned. Many SUV's, never a truck. Bought it used, about 6 months ago.

So, it drives me crazy that when I go over larger bumps, or a series of smaller ones, it sounds like the doors "bounce" on the hinges? Ok, let me back track. I thought it was the inside panels and after taking them all apart, nothing is loose, and nothing seems to be able to make the noise. It sounds to me like a clunk, and I keep picturing the doors sort of bouncing in the strikers? I open the doors and pull up on them, but feel no play, but surely there has to be some body flex and give if closed and you hit some bumps, right? So I am thinking of raising the strikers in, and up? May tighten the doors up??

Anyone ever done this? Does this make sense?

not sure...maybe the strikers are worn down (i.e. compressed)...not sure. how do they look compared to say a new set on a new truck...

You mean crew cab? Super cab has suicide door in the back. The crew cab has 4 full size doors that open normally.

Funny, it is refered to as the super crew, so I guess a combo of both. It indeed has four full size doors, not the suicide doors. It appears all four have the same sort of noise. I am pretty sure you can loosed the door jam hook and push the doors in and up, but I think in would cause the doors to be off line, so maybe just up, causing less play for the door to bounce? Has anyone ever done this, and am I on the right track?

I have the Lincoln version, full four doors.

When you hit the bumps hard enough the rubber bumpers compress and it makes the noise you describe. I think the actual noise comes from the latch and striker which are both metal.

New bumpers may help this for a while but as they cycle they will get weaker and more noise. You might find a way of shimming out the bumper by the latch but the door will be harder to close.

I just live with the noise.

Hum, interesting enough there are no rubber bumpers on any of the doors? There is a seal all around the inside cab, that the doors may hit, but nothing on the doors at all. The striker/latch and hinge are the only metal on metal parts, thus why I assumed if I lifter the latch, it would make the striker on the door ride up higher and tighter, and maybe reduce the thumping over bumps? The should be, on the door, one near the latch and the other at the top of the door. I just checked it before I made my post.

Look at your rear door.

Wow, how embarassing, I had to go back out and SEARCH for it, yes one on each door, and rather mushy? Should I just replace those or try to raise the striker plate on the frame? Or both? Think that will do it?
