JD is right Optima is the way to go. They are made to be depleated time and time again and still take a full charge.

Only minor tip I have is to be cautious about battery posts. I know today's batteries are sealed, but after you're done handling them, wash your hands well right away before touching your clothes or rubbing your eyes. Not worth taking any chances.
Oh yes...and disconnect the negative first, and hook it up last.

I did not have a battery tender on mine but I do now. The service guy told me there is a draw on the battery and a tender is not enough you need something with a charge cycle. I have a Ctek3300 which is supposed to cycle the battery here is the link CTEK battery charger - US 800, MULTI US 3300, MULTI US 7000

Did you try to put a real charge back on the battery?
I can't believe a 2 year old battery would be no good? .

Yes they are good batteries but if you kill it totally stone dead then yo are likely to need a new one. That said I will be replacing it with another optima this spring because I do think they are pretty good batteries. |

Tis the season for dead batteries as we put out cars up for the winter.
This is a post from Fred at Ford GT500.com that explains why after 3 weeks the battery goes dead. Wish Fred was a member here. ![]() FYI-You have to actually drive the car to get the alt. to charge the battery. The batteries in the new Mustangs will last about 3 weeks while parked. The electrical systems on these cars are what we call on the network. While these cars are parked and turned off the network actually powers 7 modules, anti theft switches and the amps in the stereo. After 30 minutes the network goes into sleep mode but still powers all items mentioned. If you pop the trunk or open the door the network wakes up and stays awake for 30 minutes as long as nothing else is used in the car then goes back into sleep mode. The reason you hear sometimes to turn your radio off before you turn the car off is the ACM or audio module draws 4 amps and usually the most likely module to go bad.If the ACM goes bad it never goes into sleep mode and draws 4 continuous amps till the battery is dead, which doesn't take long.Hope this helps.

Year, Fred's a good guy! Great info!!
...so I guess it's a BatteryTender... ...or disconnect the battery and lose your learned sensor 'masks' (no biggie) and radio presets.

I go out and start mine about every 2-3 weeks, let them run, warm up, operate all switches, turn signals, A/C, heater controls, roll them back 20 feet, forward 20 feet, turn on lights, etc. etc.

I just put a note in my calendar to start the SGT and the Cobra this Saturday. It should be warm enough to pull them out of the garage.
