Curious... most that have had this problem either had a TVS with a mis-adjusted smaller diameter pulley (can't remember if it was on too far or not far enough), or people who have the 10% OD lower pulley. Those are really the only ones I remember having issues.

belt is slipping, the grooves on the belt and pulley are probably shiny,
and the big pulley over powers the little pulley's and slips the belt

SS...are you seeing belt material on the hood. IF so, check to see its rubbing the front lip of the lower stock idler. IF so, then the SC pulley needs to go on further beyond the shaft end (1/16 to 1/8).....if your running a TVS

I had this issue. My car, however, is a TVS car with a 2.6" upper. The company from which I purchased the S/C did not press the pulley on quite far enough...about 1/8" short is all it took. I pressed on further, problem gone. Check belt alignment, then if that is ok, see where your tensioner is...can you go one notch tighter? Get a new belt and go for it.
Good luck. Dave

It could also be the bearings going bad (lube gone bad/dry) in the Metco idler...

Thanks guys, I will check all of the tips shared.
I was getting the chirp a while after I installed stage 2... I then replaces the Metco Idler with the dual bearing Idler... the chirp never really stopped. I have applied belt dressing but havent removed the belt to apply or let it dry Thanks for the help

OK here is what I have done in the way of troubleshooting this problem.
Just to remind all Stock Blower Stage 2 Metco Dual Bearing Idler Frydguy79 "can you adjust the idler down from the middle hole to the bottom hole??" "belt is slipping, the grooves on the belt and pulley are probably shiny, and the big pulley over powers the little pulley's and slips the belt" gr8snkbite "SS...are you seeing belt material on the hood?" Hard to tell on the hood because I still have the stock heat blanket. IF so, check to see its rubbing the front lip of the lower stock idler. IF so, then the SC pulley needs to go on further beyond the shaft end (1/16 to 1/8).....if your running a TVS 1. The ideler was on the tightest setting (the lower hole) 2. I dont have the TVS... however, I do notice belt dust that has collected in other areas. Upon close inspection of the belt shows very slight visible chords showing on the leading edge, I can also see the same wear on the ribs. Neither the belt ribs or the pulleys are shinny as Fryguy79 suggested. 3. Inspected all other pulleys for alignment issues and didnt see anything of concern... I could not tell where the belt was rubbing on the leading edge either. 4. I did some checking using a long screw driver as a stethascope. I could hear a distict bump (Chirp) in the Idler, here is a clip ![]() 5. I removed the Idler Pulley... here is a clip... Notice chirp gone ![]() 6. I reinstalled the Idler in the Mid position... Chirp still Gone... Less is More? ![]() 7. Test drive... Chirp still gone ![]() Thanks Guys Once again your assistance has helped me with my car TY

good job SS....
you can look down at the lipped stock idler (below the metco pulley) from the driver side with a flashlight. if the belt is touching that forward lip, it'll eat the leading edge of the belt and throw material, especially up against the hood. for future reference. glad it worked out for ya..
