Question Engine Light On and Nobody's Home

When I went to VIR, after the first day my engine light came on.

A freind (SPRSNK) had a code reader and said it was running rich and cleared it.

Since, it has done it again twice.

Assuming it is the same thing I cleared it by re-installing my tune.

Any ideas why after a period it would throw a rich code?

Anyone know of a reasonably priced code reader that tells you worthy info?

I think it just runs a little rich.

I need someone smart to tell me why?

After learning some new info this week, Birdman should have some answers for you.

Sorry I can't help... this stuff was so far above my head I thought I was talking to 68fastback again.

Auto X Ray makes a pretty good reader for somewhat cheap.

Once you have the code, the manual should give you a trouble shooting tree for that code. It should tell you how to test each suspected component.

What code did it throw?

I don't have a manual yet so I can't look it up.

When a member from a different site (SPRSNK) checked it for me all he said is it was a rich code...I'm assuming it is the same thing now.

Usually there is a 3 or 4 digit code-then an explanation. I didn't see rich as a normal explanation.

Not a bad price at all.

Is our ECM a OBD II ?

I thought it was some special "spanish oak" thing-a-ma-bob ?

I think the EZ Scan 6000-6100 reads the codes.

I would contact them and ask specifically for application to be sure because they are not completely clear on their site.

And yes it is a Spanish Oak thing-a-ma-bob.Their site says they have a spanish version:mafia20smile:

a

Those used to be made at our Cleveland plant. SPX bought Auto XRay a few years ago. I was the lucky guy that got to manage the inventory and travel back and forth from Mpls. to Cle.. That plant is now scheduled for closure, and much of those items are being built in China now. I would not give them one red cent.

Cool re: Engine Light On and Nobody's Home

What is the difference between the one I listed and the 6000 ?

I don't think I understand. Looks like they both read the codes and explain them, but one is $130 and one is $550.

The less expensive one has less cords.
